I think the point some are trying to make is that even if Geel were last, they would still have the mental edge over us!! Its a mental thing, not a physical thing!
)We just didn't run hard enough, or want it bad enough. That's it !
Astonishing.
Are you telling me that the coaching group failed in their preparation for this game and/or the players are buggered after a tough start?

I don't know, I always thought that, but in this game the boys seemed to be hanging their heads from the first siren.Well they'd be wrong IMO. Of course if Geelong were a team like Melbourne or GWS we would beat them. It's much less of a mental thing than most people realise.
Nothing to lose in a grand final? You must be joking. Both teams in a GF have EVERYTHING to lose. Especially a team that should have won it the year before.
You are obviously close to at least one of the players at HFC. After each loss we hear the same thing, "the players are hurting, we'll learn from this, just need a bit more composure", yet nothing seems to change. They don't learn from our losses to the cats, they don't show any hurt from previous games (well, except for the mental scars), and they certainly don't show any composure.
This isn't about a curse against the cats, it is about our inability to turn the tide when a team turns the heat up on us. Sydney did it twice last year, Geelong have done it for years, and Adelaide even did it in the prelim last year with the only thing saving our blushes being the massive gap in talent between the two teams. Now I know you will cite the comebacks against Geelong and Sydney last year when we were 50 points down, but showing fight when then there is nothing left to lose is not tough. The tough thing to do would be to show that fight as soon as the heat is turned up. But we don't.
I could cop these losses if I saw us playing good footy, and losing to a better side. But again last night, the team I saw was nothing like what we have seen for most of the season. If we played that footy all season, we would be middle of the road. So why the big drop in performance every time we play the cats?
This photo in the Hun kinda says it all.Losses expose weakness and we need to bring up our weaknesses so its not all bad.
Really think we lack the bigger stronger bodies to compete in close against the big bodied cats.
Lacked so much drive from back line, so much of our attack comes from half back and we didn't have the run. Whitecross back there was a bit rusty, but isn't the type of player to get the run going from half back.
Hill has gone past Isaac smith Imo. I have said this before about smith, but he is the type of player who doesn't have a high ceiling of potential. I think what you see is what you get for most of his career. I think Hill has more upside.
No one better at holding Buddy in every single contest than Lonergan. I have no idea how Buddy cannot lose his cool
As good as he has been this year Luke Bruest needs a rocket, continuely in the big games he misses clutch goals from set shots, and easy shots at that, hopefully he gets his mojo back for the business end of the season. I gather that when its time for him to re-negotiate his contract his pay packet reflects how he lets us down when it matters most. he is not robinson crusoe by the way.
These 2 really concern me. We not so much Sewelly who has never been gifted with pace and skill, but there is either something wrong with Silk or he is losing interest??
Silks last month or so has been ave. Any thoughts on Silk?? I think he should be playing more in the midfield for mine.
This photo in the Hun kinda says it all.

Wonder if Bud got a free for:
a) arm chop or
b) over the shoulder or
c) nah... this is Buddy Franklin... play on, nothing to see here...

Hey Lonergan is the bestest backman of all time and Buddy gets all the free kicks.
I like that the very photo they use to justify their article shows Lonergan infringing!
.
Hi guys.
Has there been any footage put up anywhere that shows a number of different angles of the Gunston goal?
That was insane and I want to see how he did it.
Channel 7 pretty much only showed it twice and from the same angle. My guess is that he lay the ball across his foot to create an inswinger but I'd love to see it.
Good luck going forward.
I get the hurt.... But we were far from our best.... and this is far from done yet....Remember this guys ...
And I am hurting too ...
Geelong played their best, us our worst and we lost by 10 points ...

GO Catters
McIntosh, Rivers, Chapman, Johnson will all be playing next time we front geelong![]()
and then you see chris scott roll his eyes and act all put out when a legitimate free is called against them, whilst all over the ground they are getting away with 100 small things that aren't quite enough to draw the umpire's whistle.
they are good at pushing the boundaries of the rules and learning what they can get away with. this is one of their greatest strengths in terms of wins, but also one of the reasons why they will never have my full respect.
essendon of 95-05 were similar. brisbane, I believe, were dominant because of thier football. power the same. geelong, because they are sneaky and know which rules they can break without drawing a penalty, and how to draw a penalty from a team who is trying not to break the rules.
kind of like the difference between a mugger who robs you of $100 and a cyber criminal who steals 1c out of everyone's bank account...
