This is a rumour at this stage - not clarified.

I have spoken with the OP - happy to reopen the thread.

It strikes me as the right thing to do so that does sound like Rog.

It wasn't that long ago when Hayden moving the ball out of the backline was about as confident as you got watching a Freo game.

Been great for the club and I hope he stays around footy.... After spending his first preseason in years just relaxing :).

I thought he'd gone on one year too long.

Having said that, you got the feeling he so badly wanted to be a part of success. And was one of our few players that played that way at all times. Enormous respect for the man.

Just about my favourite Freo player of all time.

Played a foot taller than he actually was, and until last year, a couple of metres faster than he actually is.

You can't do that without being a genius.

But we used to call him our admiral. Just because he seemed to know ahead of time how his disposal would shape our attack up correctly.

One of the few pure football brains we've had. :(

+1

Loved watching him do his magic. And always seemed like a very nice person as well. Hope life treats him well after footy. :thumbsu:

Smooth and classy. Another one of those Freo players who, if he played for a Victorian club, would have been considered a superstar of the competition. One of the best we've had, without doubt.

If true, will be a real shame we couldn't give him a farewell game, even coming out of a forward pocket.

And Bender, that video almost made me cry. How good were we last year. I really miss Mora.

Very exciting player to watch. Real shame he was crueled by injuries, congrats Roger and all the best.

Sad, sad, day. :( Was so hoping he could get back for one more year.

Thanks for the contribution you have made to the club Roger, in body and soul.

Hope to see you hanging around Brookton one day.

Sad to see him grow. As a 17 year old, he's always been a part of my immediate Freo memory.

I was really excited to see him return this year. We really needed him, and even in his later age, still managed to give us an edge. Would have loved him to stay another year. I think he was the kind of footballer who didn't need lightening speed nor a big engine - he was just a natural.

One of my real favourite Dockers. He played like a true half back - defended sublimely, had some nice skills, and an awesome run out of the back. Without a doubt, a real champion of the Fremantle Football Club. Gonna miss him.

Best of luck, Roge.

Ah man, sad to hear this. Along with Dale Kickett Roger is my favourite ever Freo player.

Such a shame he never got the recognition he deserved amongst the wider footy public. Thanks for the memories Roger.

Oh bugger.... :(

It's not like we didn't know this day was coming, but it's bloody sad and horrible at the same time...

Love ya Rog - always was and always will be "The Genius That Is...".

well played rodger. As our barometer, it is ironic that his last game was our last win. When he was up and running, so was freo. I just knew that when he was injured against sydney in that win, we were ultimately screwed fpr the year

He was a freak, Sevearly under-rated, for a guy his size he could take a very good contested mark, and was one of the classiest users of the football freo ever have seen

If he was able to not break his leg all the time it would of been nice

Was to Freo what Wirrpanda was to the Eagles but never seemed to get the same recognition outside of WA. Was exciting to watch and always went about his footy in the right way.

Shame to see him not be able to leave the game on his own terms after succombing to injury

Sad day, another Freo gem bites the dust.

All class, with the ability to make time stop whilst he did his stuff.

Miss you heaps Roger, and all the best for the future.

Freodoc :(

So sad to hear about Roge retiring. He was definitely one of my Freo favourites. I always thought of him as "the quiet achiever". I think I only saw him interviewed once. (Sometimes I wish they'd focus on someone other than Pav and Sandi when it comes to the media, afterall 22 guys take to the field).

Good luck in all your endeavours going forward Roge :thumbsu:

A very sad day for the club and us supporters!!

Was player that oozed class and stood out in our team. Always gave you confidence something positive would happen when he had the ball.

Enjoy your retirement Rog, a champion of our club.
