Excuses ,Blah blah ,more excuses, made up shit, blah blah blah etc, etc.

Nah it was a phenomenon that was commented on at the time.

We were very Pav centric when it came to going forward. Pav was clearly the best we ever had but he was always being double teamed or worse and our mids used to still ignore leads by other players. That was a big issue for us and I never saw it successfully addressed.

Its one of the the reasons we became a slightly better scoring side when we put another tall in to attract at least a defender away from Pav

We did put another tall , but Sandi get injured at the wrong time .

Interesting how it didn't similarly influence a certain posters opinions about Chris Mayne at the time ;) So we get to pick and choose which forwards were impacted by the "kick it to Pav" phenomenon? I see how this works now.

No denying Pav was the key target, why do you think that is? So players thought a double or triple teamed Pav was more chance of succeeding than kicking it to Tabs? Says it all doesn't it? It's interesting how forward lines like Adelaide have 6 guys who all seem to be able to demand the ball even though a couple are clearly dominant. West Coast has an obvious #1 key forward target yet we don't seem to give their other tall forwards similar excuses.

I'm expecting Tabs to play this weekend and I hope he does well but please enough with these ridiculous excuses. You guys whinge about him not being given a fair go but apparently the only time he can be given a fair go is when Pav (or some other primary key forward) isn't/wasn't playing or it isn't wet weather. It is absolutely ludicrous. If he is that precious that he can't play both in the wet and alongside a more dominant forward then he is useless to us.

(Like all players) He needs to perform consistently irrespective of conditions. End of story.

Wow, did you actually read my post or just look for something to whinge about.

They didn't actually have to worry about Tabs because the ball generally went past him to Pav. Nothing to do with not having to worry about him. So I've got you down for poor comprehension as well as poor logic.

Also nobody mentioned Mayne but rather than have you rewrite history, Mayne's problem wasn't getting the ball, it was his inability to kick straight. Tabs got the ball less but at least kicked straight.

Try discussing things rationally than getting all aggressive to push an agenda. That never works out well

This is exactly the point and why I brought up Mayne though. You say there was a "kick it to Pav" phenomenon but Chris Mayne (who I agree was shocking in front of goals, so why would they kick it to him?) apparently got the ball plenty enough. So how was he able to get the ball during this kick it to Pav era but Tabs wasn't? You can't have it both ways. There is either a valid excuse and therefore Mayne wouldn't have got the ball either OR it's yet another BS excuse.

Let's be clear, I like Tabs, I actually think he has most of the tools to be a really good key forward (which is why he is so ******* frustrating to have followed). I think his ruck work has improved since working with Hale. And if he were to be consistent he'd be very valuable for us. But it is what is between the ears that continues to be the problem. Not "kick it to Pav" or "wet weather" or any other excuse. Tabs himself is the only thing that determines whether he will make it or not. If he could replicate the attitude he had against Essendon for every game then he wouldn't be being dropped. But there is no way his attitude was anything close for the other 4 games this season, and attitude is something he is in total control over - no external excuses.

Ok,

1. He played more than Tabs
2. From memory (and take this with a grain of salt) Mayne got more balls from handpasses rather than marks. Tabs was never going to be the in and under type that Mayne could be. I think the two are too different to be comparable.
3. Agreed, his ruckwork has improved
4. Where I have doubts with him is he has shown nothing when its wet. Not sure why, either he's shit or we don't train enough for wet weather footy. That said both McCarthy and Kersten were equally shit and Kersten at least has no excuse given his time at sleepy hollow.
5. In my opinion, Tabs has a problem between the ears. He's shown heaps when his confidence is up and he is utterly shite when it isn't....and the difference is vast. I'm also of the view that in for a few weeks then first one out isn't going to do much for his confidence. It may also be an issue with the way he's been expected to play rather than playing to his strengths. (thats speculation not based on inside knowledge)
6. The 'kick it to Pav' aspect was very real and I used to get very frustrated watching his (and others) leads get ignored by our mids.
7. Agreed with attitude but see my comments re confidence. Also I'd point to Kersten's attitude in the same games.
8. I have no idea if he will ever work out but I will say I would have handled him differently

Tabs needs to bring the 'Ninja Nurry Bag Backhander' and accompanying attitude to every game or GTFO!

Tabs played 32 games in 015 and 016 . He had ample games and was hardly in and out of the side. Its a myth he hasn't had enough games to show his worth. He is an average player who occasionally has a reasonable game. Nothing wrong with that ,he does his best with the tools he has been given but he has had plenty of opportunities to show he is more than just an average player. He hasn't been able to do that. Labelling posters who point that at as Tab bashers is ludicrous .

Tabs got the ball kicked to him often enough, he just doesn't mark it often enough with his brick-hands. That is what is so frustrating, he often does everything else right. I've given up hope that he'll ever correct it.

Show me where I ever used the term "Tab Basher". I think ludicrous should just be applied your last past and left there

Well you did call me aggressive, illogical, having poor comprehension, and pushing an agenda all in one post. And that was in response to a post that had none of that - I just ignored it at the time. Play the topic not the man and then things might work out better ;)

Yay. We now have two Tabs threads.
This could become a Colin Sylvia thread and go on and on and on for hundreds of pages about how Ross Lyon never gave him a chance because Ross Lyon is a prick and doesn't like Colin.
Other people could say things like 'Sylvia won't even run to get the ball at Peel' etc etc.
Could be epic!!

Yeh but the wheels on the bus go round and round. Its what makes BF worth coming back to.;)

I did mention " stop Tab Bashing" . I don't think is fair for Tab who has no involvement in this game to get our opinion on him either good or bad . Ross is working on different forward structure in this match but Sandi injury affected his actual plan .

* Please don't point the finger at Ross on Sandi injury nobody expected it .

So calling a player a pea heart is not player bashing. ;)

Well I forget about him ? Did he play this year , you don't see me call a non playing injured player pea heart . :p

I will continue to call him pea heart if he put his hand up for selection and fit to play but not putting in effort or jogging .
