I've never been to Skilled Stadium before, but was thinking of making the trip down there. Can any of the local cats here tell me about the ground?

I don't imagine the crowd will be that big, so I'm assuming I'll be able to get general admission tickets on the day. How much time should I allow for finding a park and buying a ticket? Where's the best place to sit? Anything I should watch out for? Like proudly waving my blue and gold scarf in front of some of the locals :)

Actually, the ground is likely to be absolutely chockers full. It only holds 25K or something like that. If you want to get a seat you'll definitely have to book. All the best spots seem to be taken by reserved seat holders, the ones on the wings, so there are a couple of pocket areas where you might be able to get a seat. Give the club a call and suss them out (ask for a seat with the sun behind you if possible).

Or come soak up the atmosphere on the northern ( ablett ) terrace old style...you wont get too much stick...well behaved mob us lot...

Game starts at 1.10pm, so you'd be able to find free parking maybe up to an hour or so before the game. Otherwise you can park at the station or schools, etc for $5. Theres free general admission seats, which I'm assuming would fill up fast. I'd ring the club and speak to them directly.

Btw. Crowd will be big. Especially after last weeks result, and the weather is supposed to be good.

good idea it gets pretty bad if youve got the sun in your face.
it will almost certainly be full:D
the gary ablett terrace is a good, cheapish spot. or there is this place where the 50 meets the boundary line (at the Doug Wade end) where the price is discounted, but its actually a really good view.

Unless you like standing or getting to the game an hour to an hour and a half early I'd try and book a seat. It will be packed.

My Advice:

- Get there fking early (pre buy your GA). The club has a select amount of seats free for GA. Other wise its the terrace for ya.

- If you get there early there are bog loads of free parks. If not South Geelong Primary is the best place to park. Helps out the school :thumbsu:

I might have a spare seat this week in the Doug Wade stand...

If it's just you, I am happy to give you the seat for the day.

That way you can turn up later and not worry about seating.

Let me know.

A couple of things to keep in mind:
- The game actually starts at 2.10pm. They just list it as 1.10 for TV.
- On mothers day at Kardinia Park it is tradition to wear a flower in your lapel. Or a shirt with a floral print.
You need to wear at least one of these of you will be refused entry.

Thanks for the offer, but I was intending on going with a friend. If tickets are sold out, though.... sounds like we aren't going anywhere! :(

now, fitzroy supporters...that was an entirely different kettle of fish...talk about grubby...

Just reserved seats are sold out. No reason not to go! Get into general admission, if you're quick you can get a seat, otherwise stand up on the Ablett Terrace like the good old days. Love it.

Standing isn't too bad! As everyone has said, get there early (as in when gates open) and you will most likely get a GA seat. The VFL game will be on so there'll be something to watch at least.
