Both will be in our best-22 IMO & they both can play tight if need be. Just because you leave your man to intercept a ball doesn't mean you are loose.

Really? You need to be able to keep up with your opponent
I would argue that both were outliers on opposite ends of the form spectrum. His long term normal performance level is what we should be expecting to see next year.I'd say 2012 was the outlier, not 2013. But there's no point arguing about it, all that matters now is what he does in 2014.
Do you ever post something that has a point? Or do you just take cheap shots from the bleachers.Ohh man, this is hilarious. How can someone be so wrong so often?

Mr Worry face, if there is a player you don't want to have the ball, it is Brent Reilly.
I've learnt from others never to argue with you, you can't concede your wrong.Do you ever post something that has a point? Or do you just take cheap shots from the bleachers.
If there is something specific you disagree with then make your case. So far you've done nothing except bolster my case by failing to refute a single thing I have said.
You seem to have the players confused. Hendo has been tried in multiple positions all over the field from HFF to wing to 3rd tall defender, before finally finding a place to call home on the HBF. He ended up there because he failed in all of the other positions, inevitably ending up spending time in the SANFL while the selectors pondered where to try him next, as anyone who has watched us play in the last two years would know. He has all the potential in the world, but the last 6 weeks of the season were the first time he gave any indication of being able to put it all together.I've learnt from others never to argue with you, you can't concede your wrong.
Reilly is playing defence because he just isn't good enough to play anywhere else. Henderson can play forward, middle or back as can be seen by anyone who has watched us play in the last 2 years. Somehow you've managed to confuse these two players as, I swear you wrote that Reilly can play anywhere the coach wants him to as opposed to Henderson only being able to play defence. Hence why I found your post hilarious.

Reilly, on the other hand has proven successful in multiple positions, giving the selectors flexibility in where they choose to play him. The reason he was chosen to play spare man in defence is because of his excellent kicking and ability to read the play for intercept marking - not because he was in the last chance saloon as his detractors would have us believe.
Others have done that for himDo you ever post something that has a point? Or do you just take cheap shots from the bleachers.

Game set and matchSerious question. In which positions has Reilly proven successful? And how do you measure success?
I'm not being facetious, just trying to understand it.
You said before that 2012 and 2013 were outliers, at opposite ends of the spectrum. I can accept that. They're also the two years he's played in his current role.
So looking at 2001-2011, in which positions do you say he was a success and on what basis do you say he was a success?
He's never averaged 20 possessions in a season.
He's broken 30 possessions in a game twice in 193 games (156 from 2001-2011)
He's got 4 career Brownlow votes, accumulated in 2 games
He didn't finish top 10 in the B&F from 2001-2009. He did make it in our 2 worst years in recent history (2010-11)
He doesn't kick goals
Reilly on Moloney is the second most infamous matchup in our history
I can acknowledge that any one of these things doesn't prove anything. But all of it taken together paints a pretty ordinary picture. What do you see that I don't?
You don't agree Reilly struggles to keep up with his opponent?Really?
West Adelaide11 Years on the list and 193 games .........think that's how you measure success ......stats, isn't that what everyone refers to ...to prove a pointSerious question. In which positions has Reilly proven successful? And how do you measure success?

You are forgivenI must admit I agreed with Vader until I read this post
Really? Is that your way of answering the question as to which positions he's been successful in by not naming them?11 Years on the list and 193 games .........think that's how you measure success ......stats, isn't that what everyone refers to ...to prove a point

I remember the Sydney match watching him trail McVeigh badly, pretty sure he was dropped the week after.
It's not an isolated event either, put anyone with above average speed on Reilly and he struggles.
West AdelaideYepReally? Is that your way of answering the question as to which positions he's been successful in by not naming them?
......because it's a cyclic argument ......because no-one can prove one way or the otherThe difference is he's a mid sized defender, being exposed for pace by a mid sized forward is not what you want....Mmmm
Same as ...Thompson, Porplyzia, Otten, Lynch, Wright ......gee didn't he get exposed for lack of pace this year
The point is ......not everyone is a Leroy Jetta ......but team selectors try to balance the team with fast & slower players
Many slow players make up for the pace issue with reading of the game ......stand up Scott Thompson
Not its easy to prove, name the years he was successful in the different positions and as for stats, he did that and you dismissed them.Yep......because it's a cyclic argument ......because no-one can prove one way or the other
On the other hand they say stats don't lie .......and given you use stats all the time .....lets his career stats speak for themselves
West AdelaideThen how does he make the AA sqaud then ........surely on your appraisal those experts on the AA selection committee don't know their stuffThe difference is he's a mid sized defender, being exposed for pace by a mid sized forward is not what you want
West AdelaideI say he was successful ....you say he wasn't .....where's that discussion going but no-whereNot its easy to prove, name the years he was successful in the different positions and as for stats, he did that and you dismissed them.
Because he didn't have an opponent once he did he missed AA selection, pretty straight forward. Put an opponent on him and he struggled leading to being dropped this year. Then how does he make the AA sqaud then ........surely on your appraisal those experts on the AA selection committee don't know their stuff
How about concentrating on Reilly's real issue in 2014 (which WAS NOT speed) ......it was his decision making ......some horrible turnovers that resulted in goals
