Hodge v Bartel

Although the 2001 draft often attracts debate over whom should have gone number 1, I thought it would be interesting to see whom had a better career to date out of Hodge and Bartel (whom was taken at number 8). Both are primarily midfielders, both are renowned for their courage and attack on the ball. Both rack up big numbers.
Whom has had the better career to date and who would you prefer going forward.

Good poll IMO because although Hodge is more celebrated and talked about, I rate Bartel very highly and love the way he plays; hard at it and always racks up possies. Top bloke as well.

I still voted Hodge but either would be just as valuable in the future

Hodge is slightly quicker and a better kick, bartel is better overhead...

tough call.. As a geelong fan i rate Jimmy highly, but he does deserve it, I still think Jimmy is underrated by the majority of footy fans who see him as a 'good' midfielder.

Hodge has more speed which prob put him those few picks ahead of Bartel. Dennis summed it up against Melbourne, he said something like if he (Bartel) was a yard faster he would be a superstar.

I voted Hodge but its a very very close call.

I'd have Bartel at the Hawks in a second. Love the way he plays. Chose Hodge as I think he has more versatility.

the dees played against both in the last two weeks. bartel tore us apart. hodge is avery good player but just showed a few limitations against the dees. when matched against a very good running forward when playing in defence tends to lose his man. bruce sort of ran him into positions he was not comfortable with and racked up about 10 possies in the first quarter. hodge was then moved off bruce and the hawks got on top when he found the ball

Hodge just, If Bartel keeps going as he is he could overtake Hodgie as Bartels 07 has been awesome to date.

Have to take Hodge just. Better disposal and faster as well. Although jimmy is better overhead. You'd take Hodge over Bartel so far.

Bartel's had a better 2007 no question, but I think Hodge will be a batter player from 2008 and beyond.

Bartel - Not by much. They are both guns.

Hes tough and hard at the ball. He attacks the ball like another boy on our team KERR. He has great vision and very good mark for his size.

Hodge is all class as well, a booming left foot kick and a great football brain.
