Hottest 100 2009

[Bomber Bears]

Starting to get closer to that time of year again.

Doesnt seem to be any real obvious stand outs at this point, when compared to last year when MGMT and Kings Of Leon were locks for the top few spots, the year before when straight lines was almost certain to be top few etc. Muse released an album but there is no real stand out off that that has been flogged to death, although uprising must be in with a shot. That Mumford and Son song could be up there, but it isnt such a clear cut countdown this year.

Any tips?

Lisztomania/1901 by Phoenix could be right up there, as well as Underdog by Kasabian. There are no clear standouts like Sex on Fire was an obvious winner last year, unless something like that comes out in the next month or so.

Not sure what triple J even play these days as I don't even listen to the radio anymore, how about Philly Jays!?, Karnivool, Pearl Jam, Hilltop Hoods, Lily Allen, Lisa Mitchell? Only music I can really think of that would be up there for my number 1.

i think little lion man will be top 10 this year - the mumford and sons album is bloody amazing, so they're set to continue getting a lot of airtime.

all of the dreamers will be top 20 i think, powderfinger only have to release a song.

muse have got that bloody annoying fanbase that will see uprising and ...eurasia finish highly.

new moon rising is a good song that i can see doing pretty well.

florence and the machine will do well with rabbit heart and dog days i reckon.


however... unless something huge comes out in the next 2 months, it could be the most open hottest 100 ever.

Lizstomania is a lock for my number one. Probably my favourite song for the last 3 or 4 years, that's how much I like it. Makes me smile, is the perfect pop song IMO.

You will be throwing your radio into the water then - I'd say United States of Eurasia is probably a lock for #1 if the voting for Knights of Cydonia was any indication two years ago.

United States of Eurasia winning would be a travesty, awful song. Although i think Uprising is more likely.
Broken Leg is a big chance to be top ten, shithouse song as well

Well, lizstomanmania will be up there, fire and where did all the love go?, by kasabian, wolfmothers new song, some muse, uprising perhaps, umm, sundown syndrome by tame impala, not up high though, other songs, sugar army, hilltop hoods, lisa mitchell, more rap, bloody beetroots ( i hate them so) , and pretty much music from any artist whose album was featured this year for a week...

also i dont think i could choose a song off kasabians new album either, and their are much better songs than eurasia on muses new album, resistance, unnatural selection and MK Ultra are all decent songs i reckon...

It's possible that one of the other songs from Muse gets all the attention - I just went with Eurasia as the first known track - Uprising as the first track and first single could be a better bet though.
