Only one TCV song with New Fang at 98 is appaling. :thumbsd:
Florence and the Machine with 4 songs

I though Dog Days was 2008?

Why wasn't Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition listed on the voting list/actually get into the Top 100? I hope it was either a gross oversight or was a 2009 release (although I dont believe it was)....

Besides that it was a good Top 100, although the top 10 or so was pretty poor

^^^^^^

I want the answer to this as well.

Songs like Warp 1.9 (although I love Awesome) and Parlez-vous-Francais have no use to the radio listener - they are only of use when dancing in a club or at Summadayze/Parklife etc.

They have invaded the countdown, for the worse.

Sweet Disposition was released in late 2008 and made it in at 102 last year.

meh...

Worst one yet?

I'll admit I don't listen to alot of Triple J as it seems to get worse every listen. I do though listen in and take interest in the Hottest 100 every year. Most years there is a splattering of songs I have enjoyed through the year and I often find some new songs through the broadcast.

This year though, I noticed probably two songs I enjoyed and the vast majority of other songs were not of great quality.

So, was this years Hottest 100 the worst since it's inception?

Re: Worst one yet?

Would have to go close to the worst. The Hottest 100 seems to get worse each year as Triple J gets more commercial and mainstream.

The best Hottest 100s were back in the mid nineties. I've got the '93, '94 & '95 CDs and they are all crackers. Still listen to them quite a bit even now. Haven't bothered buying any of the recent ones.

Whinge, bitch and moan.

You must be one fun bloke to hang around, muppet. :thumbsu:

Re: Worst one yet?

Yep. Gets worse by the year.

I don't mind Art vs Science as a live act but it's plain embarrassing that Parlez Vous Francais? was number 2.

Although I don't listen to Triple J much at all anymore so maybe I've just lost touch with whats popular with the alternate crowd.

How is pointing out that the standard of the Hottest 100s has declined and that this years Hottest 100 is one of the worst of all time, whinging, bitching and moaning? or got anything to do with what sort of bloke I am?

I'm just offering my opinion, which looks like it's shared by plenty of other people too, muppet. :thumbsu:

A few things:

  • Only two of the songs I voted for made it into the Countdown - "Dog Days Are Over" by Florence and the Machine (#10) and "Bulletproof" by La Roux (#6).
  • For the third year running, my pick for #1 song of the year ("Death" by White Lies) didn't even make it into the Countdown! My choices for the past two years have been "We Danced Together" by The Rakes (2007) and "Back of the Van" by Ladyhawke (2008).
  • I was very suprised that "Parlez Vous Francais?" by Art vs. Science placed so high. Its high placing received unanimous hate at the gathering I attended as well.
  • I was also suprised that "Panic Switch" by Silversun Pickups placed so low (#94). I thought that would have been a shoe-in for the top 10.
  • Furthermore, I was also suprised that Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers appeared at #100 as well ;)
  • Overall, considering that there's been a lot of great music released in 2009 IMO (I've bought or downloaded over 110 albums in the past year), and this was the only time I've listened to any radio in the past year, the countdown was really bloody weak.

I'd prefer the hottest 100 if we were voting for albums instead of single songs. Of course, I am probably in the minority here.

I don't think Little Lion Man is a bad song, there have been worse winners definitely.

Annoyed how Them Crooked Vultures only got one song in at 98. Also, the countdown needed more metal , but I'm not suprised by it's absence.

One of the worst songs ever written. Laughably bad. I'd rather listen to Nickelback's entire discography. Twice. And I ****ing hate Nickelback.

Nickelback is definitely bad but I completely agree with how shit this song is. Cannot for the life of me work out why people like this rubbish. Bluejuice have had some good songs but this one is just terrible.

8 of my votes made the countdown, which im happy about.
Not happy about the winner, I could name MANY songs id prefer, but thats opinionative.

Friendly Fires - Skeleton Boy (92) Why so high on the countdown?
Kasabian - Underdog (85) Dissapointing as well
MSTRKRFT - Heartbreaker (73)
Passion Pit - Sleepyhead (20)
Philadelphia Grand Jury - The Good News (57)
Phoenix - Lisztomania (4) Devastated, should of been number 1
Simian Mobile Disco - Audacity Of Huge (Ft. Chris Keating) (41)
Sugar Army - Tongues In Cheeks (N/A)
Vampire Weekend - Cousins (22)
Duck Sauce - Anyway (N/A)

I also wanted to vote for
Art vs. Science - Parlez Vous Francais
Manchester Orchestra - Ive Got Friends
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll
Passion Pit - Im Reeling, which didnt make the countdown at all.

Special mention to Flight of the Conchords, Great effort with 3 songs in the countdown, competing with the likes of Muse and other Headlining bands at this point in time.

Not a bad 100 overall, but the worst top ten EVER by a long long way.

Lisa Mitchell, Bluejuice and Art v Science in the top ten with Grizzly Bear at 61 ??????

Mumford and Sons is a catchy song so I understand it rating highly, plus they swear so it gets extra cred with the kids, but if anybody tells me that I should like it because they are like The Pogues, I will shove a banjo up their arse.

Pretty Much Where it Deserves to be in the countdown
Should have been much higher up in the countdown
wtf?
WTF?!?!?!

anyway thats my opinion :D

only 131,000 people voted LLM as the best song of the year. what did the other million people vote for?
There weren't one million people voting. Only around 150 thousand voted, but there were 1 million "votes". (10 votes per person or less)
