The obvious... score more than them!:D

But seriously, what is our strategy likely to be? They are apparently more in love with the boundary than we are! They are ranked first for teams using the boundary taking it forward that way 47% of the time (source: Michael Gleeason article on Reatfooty.com.au. http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/rfnews/why-pies-are-wide-of-the-mark/2009/05/18/1242498700121.html).

I think Cox/Seaby will have the better of their rucks (Fraser is a test for this game but should play) so our mids should get first use of the ball. They have a more experienced/hard bodied set of mids with the likes of Swan, O'Bree, Lockyer, Davis, Pendlebury. Even Beams hasn't looked out of place in their at times.

We HAVE to play a more direct style through the corridor. Hit JK/Lynch coming through the centre and move the ball inside 50 quickly.

One thing that works in our favour is that Malthouse doesn't seem to like to drop numbers back and prefers the man on man approach. Hopefully this means that when our mids look up at our forward line they're more confident at kicking it direct instead of going sideways. Lynch and Kennedy should hold their own in these situations and LeCras and McKinley should also be able to take advantage of this.

I think it's important A Selwood is used as an attacking mid rather than a tagger.

I think Masten will get a little bit more time in the midfield this week. After showing some quality last week and with Kerr most likely missing, he steps up a rung on the ladder. I think with Priddis and Masten roving to our superior ruck division, we should win enough of the clearances to at least break even in that area. I think it comes down to how Embley, Rosa and Butler use the ball. If they can get on the end of our extractions and hit our forward targets, we could really kick a big score and blow Collingwood away.

Our forwards must be vigilant to deny Collingwood's half-backs options through the back of the centre square. If we can clog the corridor and send Collingwood to the wings, I think we have the key defenders to stop Collingwood scoring.

I think we can beat Collingwood, particularly given their injuries and the fact we are playing at Subi.

The sooner Woosha realises this the sooner our midfield will start to come together. Adam is a natural leader and should be leading by example through the middle in an attacking role. Our 'best' midfielder when Kerr is out should not be Matthew Priddis.

The problem is, who else can tag effectively? Stenglein is probably past it and the other end of the scale are kids who would be trying to shut down players like Judd, Ablett which would probably be disasterous.

Then again, Picken from the Bulldogs is doing a pretty tidy job of it for a youngster.

Just turn up

:D That confident eh?

Me? I'm a bit more worried about this game. Its SHOULD be one that we win, but underestimating the Pies on the road is not a good thing. For all the whinging that other teams do about their lack of travel, ironically the Pies aren't a bad travelling side. Getting away from all the negative hype in Melbourne might be exactly what they need.

I'm expecting a no holds barred attack on the ball and our midfielders by them. I think they will try to come out and hit our guys hard and constantly (bit like they did to Geelong last year) and put enormous pressure on the ball carriers, as they'll realise they're not likely to get first use of the ball at the stoppages and that we aren't that great disposers under pressure (or without pressure for that matter). They are a pretty decent tackling side too with around 60 on avg per game (compared to our 49), and its not just one or two blokes that do it, as evidenced by the fact that only O'Bree sits in the top 25 tacklers in the league from the Pies.

Leon Davis is the one we need to watch closely in the midfield. Pendlebury and Swan rack up the touches but do not hurt you as much as Neon does.

Scott Selwood is the man for the job, IMO.

Big game for Nicoski this week, especially if Didak and Medhurst come back into their team.

Is Cloke back for the Collywobbles this week?

Yep, Davis has been having a good run this year. Hopefully we can put a stop to it. Not sure Scooter could stay with him tbh.

Cloke won't be available. The Pies' website says another 2-3 weeks.

Collingwood have been woeful in recent weeks. We should capitalise on that, they're going to have to make a number of changes again this week.

Davis and Pendlebury are their dangermen. If we can negate H.Shaw down back then they'll struggle to get it out of defence IMO. They've been really poor in his absence and his games that hes struggled in since hes returned they've been belted.

wce by 12 points......(oh well gotta be positive). :(:o:confused::rolleyes::)

yes..and a big help if daisycutter thomas is out!

Very dangerous team to play especially considering they have "drawn a line in the sand" and are looking to get back 3-4 quality players. Its at home which means we will go up a notch but they should be very desperate for the win and I dont think the travel will effect them.

Its incredibly hard to tip this game at the moment, im going to wait untill the lists come out to see who they get back and if Kerr and Hunter line up for us. Its almost worth giving Hunter another weeks rest the way our forward line is going atm and I think Seaby deserves another week. Seaby rucking well gives our team such a better structure with Cox able to run around more without tiring and Lynch able to go back to FF.

Loved seeing Lynch in the forward line... even if he still cant kick straight.

If Kerr doesnt get up id put Stinga in as a tagger and give Selwood a free reign, take one of the kids out. Might even be worth dropping Rosa/Scooter/McNamara and bringing Stinga in anyway so that Selwood can be let loose even if Kerr gets up. Probably be a good idea to have two taggers in the team just in case they start to get on top of our younger mids.

Seaby was good last week, I think with Seab's helping out Coxy, Dean will be less wore out in the 2nd half's

Seaby was very good.

Collingwood is a side we have match up problems with.

The big three are Leon Davis, Paul Medhurst and Dane Swan.

We dont have good matches for them.

You could add Lockyer and Daisy as well.

The answer is go down the guts. Yes they have bigger bodies but with quick ball movement into space will nullify their contested ability. They will struggle to match up on Lynch and Kennedy so use them more than Lecca and McKinley imo.

They showed that footage of daisy doing his little dance on his knees today. God i wish someone shoved him in the chest while he was doing that. "Yeah you kicked a goal but hows your back now you little homo"

I think if we play like we have been and just cut down on some basic errors I think we will beat them by a few goals. Either way Im looking forward checking out my membership seat for the first time :D
