How exciting is season 2008?

I think you guys will finish 7th.

Heres my ladder and why :)

1. Geelong(After that thrashing in the AFL Grand Final 2007, I think they will climb the ladder to the top. Not by a long way like last year, by a game or percentage.)

2. Hawks (Franklin was in best form last year and sure this year he has to be close to winning the Brownlow. I can expect alot from him next year.)

3. Freo ( They are going to take a big step this year and I think 2008 will be one of their best years in a long time)

4. Collingwood (Hate em but I think they will do good this season)

5. Adelaide(This may be the rebuilding year of the Mighty Crows BUT they can get up there and win there way to the top in the Finals.)

6. West Coast (Without Judd and Cousins they will still do ok)

7. Saints (Meh, i just think they will get into the finals)

8. Brisbane(Browny is getting better each year, and this year he will be on fire just allowing the Lions to snatch the eighth position from Port Adelaide.

9. Port Adelaide (Crows will win both showdowns so look out coz we will be in front if we do [which I know we will]. After that disgraceful win, it’s going to take a while for them to get into there best footy again [about round 9 from my expectations] and by the time they start playing well there is no chance they are going to be in the finals)

10. Bulldogs (I dont think they have a good enough team to make it into the finals this year)

11. North Melbourne(Mmm just lucky you slipped out of the bottom 4. Lucky fluke you got into the finals. The game we played against you last year seemed like one of our easiest!)

12. Sydney(Why the high results for Sydney?? I think they will finish 12th)

13. Melbourne(When you get a chance to get in the finals I promise it will be when I'm 20 [I’m 14 now]. 6 years OR MORE wait age)

14. Essendon (Down you goooooooo)

15. Carlton (OMG Carton are up themselves saying "WE HAVE JUDD OMG WE ARE GOING TO WIN THE GRAND FINAL!! OMG Judd is a player not a million dollar person who is robot and does anything you won’t. He does make mistakes you do know. Look at WC; they haven’t won every season that Judd has played with them... Judd will hardly make a difference to your team. Seriously)

16!! Richmond (I can never ever see you holding up a trophy till you get a whole new list of players!)

I think the bolded statement says it all. Kids always think their team will win it all!!!!!!!

Fremantle is just about my Premiership pick this year.

Awesome depth, and almost impossible to beat at Subiaco when up and running.

Freo have talent, but travel about as well as the Saints. I'm hoping that Lyon makes a call on Gehrig and Milne i.e. pick your best team for that particular match - if they don't travel well, send someone else (we have the depth to do it this year).

It seems the squad for the Tigers game is :

Steven King
Xavier Clarke
Ben McEvoy
(???) Max Hudghton
(???) Fraser Gehrig
Leigh Montagna
Nick Riewoldt
Adam Schneider
Raphael Clarke
Aaron Fiora
David Armitage
Matthew Ferguson
Shane Birss
Sean Dempster
Sam Fisher
Nick Dal Santo
Jason Blake
Charlie Gardiner
Michael Rix
Brad Howard
James Gwilt
Jack Steven
(???) Robert Harvey
Jarryd Allen
Eljay Connors
Clinton Jones
Jarryn Geary
Stephen Milne

Rookies : McQualter, Van Rheehan, Eddy, Chivers, Haretuku, Miles

I wonder whether this is going to give us the win to kick start the season. Hate to think we take it lightly and then have to go bush (Cairns has been mentioned!!!)

the saints will not risk king and gardiner in the pre season, both are too old for major breakdown risks

would want them in the real season

you obviously know better than RL who has stated that both will be playing in the NAB cup and i think from memory that is considered the preseason

FN both are injury prone, and will be given limited game time
if either have a serious injury it is all over and the saints have gained nothing
will want to use them in the heat of battle

You may be right but the word from the coach is that they will both be playing in rotation, both are fit without any injury issues at this time

being the Geelong supporter that you are was Kingy out of the team last year due to injury or form?

King looks fantastic, so I see no reason he wouldn't play. Gardi has been out of the game for ages, so needs a NAB Cup match or two to get back into it. The more ruckmen that play in each game (Kosi is out evidently) the less wear and tear on them early in the season. This is also a time to look at Van Rheenan to see where he is at.

thats what i thought, both Kingy and Gardy looked good in the intra club Van Rheenan also looked a likely type loved his goal early on in the game. He liked it too
