I’m sure I saw Dougie tackle Martin during the match. His tackling couldn’t have been as bad as what some people seem to make out.

Douglas was OK last night, wasn't great but OK. Still think he may have profited from a month in the magoos in the way Jenkins did.

I can't understand why we fought for our own reserves team if we are not going to put senior players in their when it will benefit them. I mean, imagine what sort of game Jacobs will play first up if he has another few matches in the magoos, he'll run through the opposition ruck man first bounce

Glad they didn't go with your opinion, last 3 would have been three loses with out Big JJ, I bet your hoping like me its not a bad injury

Oh Marty, you’re such a simple, simple creature. You quote a post of mine using the words “right now” and “at the moment” that was posted 3 weeks before JJ earned his recall. And that’s forgetting that my suggestion was that as at May 5, we’d be better off giving Fog a go. There’s no evidence either way as to whether that would have been worse than bringing JJ in back then prior to pull8ng his head out if his arse.

Perhaps concentrate on topics where you don’t come across so stupid. There must be something outside of bigfooty for you. You lift heavy weight, ride bike long way and swim long way don’t you? Perhaps stick to that.

Does anyone have a list of what counts as a "pressure act"?

Impacting or forcing a disposal bit count. I’ve often thought that pressure acts can be overrated because high numbers mean you’re around the contest but not getting to a player to tackle or getting the ball yourself. Dmac used to rack them up.

Who takes second ruck spot if Fogarty replaces Jenkins though?

Have we ever deviated from that structure since Pyke took over? I have a feeling we did it once and Greenwood rucked a bit but can’t recall when.

I reckon one game we had Hugh or CEY do a tiny amount of around the ground rucking.

A player will score a point for a physical pressure act when he lays an effective tackle or lays a hand on the opposition ball carrier as he tries to get the ball away.

They also use pressure points. which is formula-based measure on four levels of pressure players can apply; corralling, chasing, closing and physical. each has a rating based on the position a player is playing

Don't mix the two up as they are scored differently.

How good is Steve Saunders injury reports, blunt and to the point, estimated recovery time.

He screams of professionalism, must be a breath of fresh air for our players.
How's some of the medical language he uses in these reports.

Loving it.... rather than "hamstring awareness" or "reported soreness in his knee"

I wonder if he’s had to explain the reports to Burton.

Speaking of Burton, the fact the club has had to hide him should be a clear indication he doesn’t belong there.

Can't really complain too much about Birdbrain this year, we simply haven't heard him much and the team is going well.

Doesn't mean he's doing his job well, just not as bad as he was.

Hass likely hates him. Saunders probably sent him to get a long weight on his first day

“No wonder it didn’t work properly for you Brett, it’s missing a key part. Look here, there’s a weight that’s missing, it sits right there. Just shoot down to the factory in Darlington and grab one of those weights for us. Speak to Greg in spare parts and tell him you’re there for a long weight”. Has not been seen since.

This is key and it is key for another reason.

Back in 2017 when we lost the GF JJ came out later and said that he wasn't in the right head space or words to that effect.
At the beginning of this year, commencement of the minor round I think after the Hawks loss we hear the same stuff from JJ as we heard after the GF loss.

He is 30, if he can't get his ####### head space right now when is he ever going too!!............the truth is he's not and for that we should concentrate our effort on developing EH.

As far as I'm concerned JJ can play SANFL, I don't want him back in the AFL team.
I reckon if JJ played instead of EH it may have been a different result

63 to 40 inside 50s, the result wouldn’t have been any different. Our efficiency up forward was on par with Geelongs.

Our midfield let us down in the second half.

JJ was missed terribly we need a finisher

We had over 20 less inside 50s and on par inside 50 efficiency. Yes having Jenkins would have been better but not the difference, not with a differential like that. We lost it in the midfield.

EH competed hard, but the clear difference (to JJ) for me was that he was being outbodied in marking contests, particularly in the one-on-one.

JJ 2 weeks ago is in our best 22, no question. Berg can compete but needs to grow a few more kilos of muscles to be more damaging.

JJ is the only guy that looks capable of kicking a bag besides Betts who is only little

Tex is capable too, just wasn’t so last night. I think his elbow injury (he was strapped) affected his ball drop and kicking for goals. We really need Tex, JJ and Betts to fire together if we’re going to be a serious contender this year.

Berg unfortunately competes and presents but unless he is clear cannot take a mark. Tex and JJ combo provide that marking threat when delivered to properly and not double teamed by opposition.

With JJ out the only players that can clunk a mark are FOG or Strachan

And yet the only person out of HH and Fog who can ruck is Himmelberg, hence he'll get the nod.

Does not matter if Fog can clunk a mark either, we aren't ditching that ruck role.

Lol, Strachan isn't coming in anytime soon!

Elite can you start a douglas thread please, this one has seen its day, all the posters calling for him to be cut from the list and never to be seen again, then rushed back in as we really really really need him now, maybe if we do the same with douglas he will find form like JJ and be irreplaceable like JJ
