I still can't belive how unloyal and self centered this guy was. He is surely suffering from anti-social peronality disorder. The fact that he is now pursuing a career in the media would also suggest this. I hate him so much. I love it when they ask him questions about Geelong though, the disloyal ****.

yeah get over it!

Yeah, build a bridge....I mean what was it? 8 years ago? Lemme guess, you hate Dunstall too for kicking 3 late goals in '85 and effectively kicking us out of the finals that year. How about the umpire who paid that suss free kick against Doug Wade in 1962 that effectively kept us out of the grand final? Do you still have a grudge against him too?

He is actually a very smart bloke.

He wanted to get out of the 'culture' that i sat through last Sunday. Living and breathing the 'fight for survival' culture v's the 'close enough is good enough, the Addy will still call us hero's' culture will have set him up for the big bad world of business and what it takes for you to be successful.

I was very very disappointed in him when it happened and for years after, but i have moved on and understand that the most important person in this world is 'me' and that if the surroundings don't provide the environment that is good enough, then move on.

Good luck with your business and media career Leigh.

Meh, given what we now know about the culture at the club and the alleged circumstances of his leaving, I kind of feel sympathetic. Though by the same token, I question whether running away was the right thing to do.

I tried building a bridge, but it fell down. I still hate him. I will always hate him. Colbert = all the characteristics of a dog, minus the loyalty.

Hey!
The media isn't so bad. Just because some of them are butt heads doesn't mean the rest of them all are.

And a media career can be better than a football career. You get to go places that are far more interesting than per say, Adleaide or Fremantle, and meet people, not beat them.

......make peoples life a misery.

Don't blame him for the circumstances he left in. A few of the older blokes didn't like the new kid on the scene taking the captaincy away from them. Very highly respected player.

Excuses. He was captain for 2 years, and sat on the sidelines with knee injuries. Then he decided he'd go to a 'team that was going to win a flag.' You'd think if you were captain and you were paid heaps to do nothing for two years that you'd show some sort of loyalty.

When he came out at that dinner and explained his reasons, I felt betrayed. Forget the shattered dreams that have come about as a result of supporting the Geelong Football Club... Seeing the captain do that , not just to his teammates, but to every supporter and every person involved at the club, was one of the lowest things I have ever seen.

People talk these days about role models in football, and the example of all these drug takers, but as I am concerned the worst example that was set as I was growing up was the treacherous departure of Leigh Colbert form the Geelong Football Club.

Mate can I suggest therapy? I am sure the people down at KP have moved on about it, so why not you? There is nothing to be gained in carrying a grudge except an ulcer. :(

Yeh, I'm not really that upset by the whole situation. I just hate unloyal people, and I can't belive the GFC captain would do that.
