Just out of interest, how often do you attend SANFL matches?

Without a doubt the SANFL is the best competition outside of the AFL, so obviously the standard of footy is great. The atmosphere is just as good if not better than the AFL; you are much closer to the action and feel more involved. The rivalries are awesome and the games are cheap. I don’t see why everyone doesn’t get involved in local footy on a regular basis because it’s great. You’re definitely missing out if you don’t get down to many games. I support the Legs and haven’t missed a game for some time.

So far this year I've been to a bit of an SANFL match. I try to get to more every year, but it can be tricky with homework, crows and arranging transport :p Last year I went to 3 matches but only one sturt game.

Whenever Im over I will go and watch Glenelg or go with Dad and watch Port Magpies, last time I went was after the Crows Vs Port Semi FInal last year on the Sunday at AO.

I always watch the SANFL on ABC over the AFL (non Crows matches of course) on a Saturday afternoon but unfortunately I have not been to an SANFL game for 3 or 4 year now

I go to most Magpies games, as long as I don't have way too much uni work.
Looks like I'll miss out this weekend unfortunately.

Probably not as much as I used to. I guess other commitments take priority but whenever I get a chance I don't mind going to a local game of footy. Like crows98 I always choose to watch SANFL on ABC compared to the AFL unless the crows are playing of course :)

Are there actually and Magpies supporters on this board who attend games?

Every week, every Dogs game for the last two years. During the time I had full time work between 2002-2003, very rare occurance for me to get an SANFL game unless it was on Friday night or a Grand Final when I begged to be let off.

Got to all the Grand Finals from 2000, plus in the last four participating years, all the league representative games including the two away ones in Fremantle and Port Melbourne.

I see plenty of ammos but only a few Glenelg games these days.
I do listen to most Glenelg games on radio when available though.

I actually think that the most entertaining football is played in local leagues, especially country.
The skill and fitness is way different than AFL but you see real (warts and all) football; IE A proper screamer or shirtfront, qtr time rumble ECT.
The main difference is how passionate i feel about it, Nothing beats the crows in full flight.

I go every week, i never go to AFL.

SANFL is much better than the AFL, may not be as skillful but its far more entertaining, especially when you follow Andrew Jarman's Roosters!!!

So is their any truth to the rumour i was told about Jarman, that during one game at Prospect when the roosters were playing shocking/dreadfull football & his comments were to the players that if they didn't start playing better that he wouldn't watch them. They continued to play poorly so he got up out of the coaches box & went into the roosters bar & watched the afl game on tv. :D

I try to go to as many SANFL games as i can/work commitments allow me.

I go to the SANFL most weeks...when other committments allow me too! This year ive been to a game every week, and on most occasions, two a week!

I'll be there this week to watch the Eagles and Magpies...should be a cracker, go the Pies! :thumbsu:

Yep, I see the Eagles each game, especially now my own footy commitments are over. I went to the Bay last Sunday as well and might see one or two regular season games which the Eagles aren't involved in.

If I'm home I'd probably prefer to watch the AFL on tv, but flick channels between ABC, Ch 10 and Fox Footy.

It is encouraging to see how many Crows supporters on this board take an interest in the SANFL. If possible, I'd encourage all football supporters to get down to Thebarton Oval on Sunday to watch the Eags vs Port. Should be a great game at one of the most traditional suburban grounds in the SANFL.

Yeah Sunday will be good, I won't be there but I can't wait until Round 13 i think it is, when North play at Thebby. I have never been there (even though i study just behind it) so it will be a cracker.

Some great games coming up. This week we see the two teams favoured to meet in the GF this year (still very early, and this is what other punters are saying) play the two teams which played off in the GF last year.

If Port and North both win this week, then the week after they will both be undefeated in a top of the table clash at Prospect.

I'll finally get to my first match for 2006 this Sunday at Thebby. My boys are really excited about going too. Just hope the Pies perform.

Usually work and sporting commitments prevent us going, but I've got my first Sunday off in about 4 months (apart from public holidays) so am going to make the most of it. 2 games of hockey in the morning with my boys then off to the SANFL.

I attend the SANFL very rarely.

I attended Noarlunga Oval on the weekend as a redcoat.
This was the first SANFL match I had been to since the SANFL games I worked as an AFL Record/SANFL Budget seller. (Finals 2004, H&A Season 2003).

I've never ever been to an SANFL match. So I didn't vote.

When I moved here in 1991, i'd never heard of the SANFL or the Crows for that matter. But as a then 7 year old who could blame me. Started following the Crows in 93 and never really had an SANFL team.

You must be studying Wizadry at Adel Uni as well. Turning yourself into a redcoat at Noarlunga is a VERY good idea. :thumbsu: It's always freezing down there! I've attended Norwood Oval as a torch 3 times and last year went to Unley Oval as a shovel (regret that although I was very useful). ;)

I used to go every week back in my single days - pre afl - have been to a few in recent times and a few years back took my youngest son to most Eagles home games as he loved having a kick on the oval. Sadly most games I have been to recently have been grand finals. :(

My eldest son likes to go whenever he can as well coming to Crows games.
