Hi guys, this is how we can get pick 7 from essendon

Cole (COLL) + Salopek (PORT) --> Essendon
Pick 7 (ESS) --> Collingwood
Lonie (COLL) + Bullen (ESS) --> Port

so,

Essendon Gain: Cole and Salopek
Essendon Lose: Pick 7
Collingwood Gain: Pick 7
Collingwood Lose: Cole and Lonie
Port Gain: Lonie and Bullen
Port Lose: Salopek

Essendon offer Aaron Henneman for Cole as a straight swap, and thats their final offer, and your trade scenario comes to a screeching halt.

Then trade him to the doggies for pick 26.

We loes 2 players and get one draft pick, doesnt look to good to me and why would we give Lonie to Port.

If Collingwood is going to give players away for draft picks just, not going to have much back up.

The pies are after Luke Power but don't want to give up pick 5 so they are after another 1st round pick to give to Brisbane for Power. They also want to get Sam Power from the Bulldogs because Luke Power has stated that he wants to play with his brother. That's why Cole is very important in the whole scenario. They are trying to get the Bombers pick 7 for him (unlikely), we will then trade pick 7 to Brisbane for Luke Power. The bulldogs are also interested in Cole, so in my opinion we are better off trying to swap Cole for Sam Power and try to get another 1st round pick elsewhere so they can get Luke Power. Make sense?

whats so special about pick 7? is there some special one time only conotation connected to it that we must target it? i dont get it...

The next Danny Roach is up for grabs

We'll trade down Pick 5 as a last resort

This trade is ridiculous. We would be the winner out of this deal (considerably). Essondon would be crazy to give up their first round pick (and top ten pick for that matter) for 2 depth players.
If both these players (cole and lonie) were at collingwood next year i dont believe they would make the 22, and 2 depth players in a struggling side would not hold enough on the trade table to warrant a first round pick.
I believe that we should trade our 5th pick and 21st pick (or another player) to brisbane for Power, then trade cole and maybe our last round pick for sam power and their second round pick. Thus leaving each team with:

Brisbane Lose: Luke Power
Brisbane Gain: Pick 5 and Pick 21
Collingwood Lose: Pick 5, Pick 21, Pick 51(?, cant remember), Richard Cole
Collingwood Gain: Luke Power, Sam Power, Pick 26
Bulldogs Lose: Sam Power, Pick 26
Bulldogs Gain: Richard Cole, Pick 51

Though I believe or last round pick may not cut it in the bulldogs deal, so that may need a change.

As always with these deals, Essendon would be clear winners. Instead of facing the possibility of picking a Danny Roach or Dylan Smith, Essendon get two semi-established players with room for improvement, who were both taken 1st Round anyway. I would only consider anything like this if it involved us off-loading pick 7 for Power.

Just a tiny amendment:

Brisbane Lose: Luke Power
Brisbane Gain: Pick 5 and Pick 21

Collingwood Lose: Richard Cole, Pick 5, Pick 21, Pick 37
Collingwood Gain: Luke Power, Sam Power, pick 43

Bulldogs Lose: Sam Power, Pick 43
Bulldogs Gain: Richard Cole, Pick 37

This compensates the Bulldogs a little better, as they upgrade their third round pick. We keep a third rounder to get an extra young player.

I would like to do a deal to get a second round pick if this deal went down, perhaps with Port for Ryan Lonie (if they really are keen on him) as there is likely to still be a bit of talent on the board in the second round.

I agree with this. Bit fairer for all involved. I agree aswell that in giving up our 21st pick to brisbane we need to somehow acquire another second round pick. Otherwise if said trades were to actually go through we would take pick number 2 then nothing until pick 43. Too much talent gone in the space between those picks.

is it a must that to get luke we have to get sam? im not big on the idea that we are getting a player just to get another (even though we got jason to get cam, and got cam just to get travis ;) ). sure, luke is very worthy and sam isnt bad himself but im not sold on the idea. would love luke down at lexus, but im not sure if i do if we need to get sam to do it. give me bartel instead.

you know the joke where the two guys are attacked by a lion and one runs off and the other says 'dont be silly you cant out run a lion', and the 1st guy replies 'no, but I can out run you!' ?

cole is walking, so the dogs dont have to trade hard for cole, they just have to out-trade essendon. you should figure that into your calculations.

I'm not the biggest fan of it either. But if it was to seal the deal for luke, i think it is worth swapping for cole. I suppose Collingwood will know where that stand in that regards around this time next week.
