Sydney's preparing to roll out hundreds of e-buses, we have one. :$

Preparing. The roll-out is occurring over years

What is it with gen y thinking everything in life takes five minutes?

They're going to have at least 120 this year. IDK if that's on top of what they already have

private operators have around 1000 buses each (it does vary greatly), so 120 is a start - thats all

right now the big question is battery management and charging. like cars, the sticker distances are not matching reality. off memory, brissy were expecting something around 600km per charge, and its around 500km (its off mem, so dont quote). the issue is managing the buses for optimal use without needed additional units to cover charge times.

the tech is rapidly improving, and production is scaling up. what you buy now is a very different prospect to 10 years time.

as i mentioned earlier, if bought today, it takes 10 years for the cost premium of one of these buses to equal a diesel, and thats assuming the battery is performing as expected for the full 10 years

this is one rollout i dont mind all govts scaling up on. unlike things such as rooftop solar, we still are only early days for this

In a normal set of circumstances you’d certainly hope that intense pain in your abdomen would result in way less than a four hour wait, especially if a GP has already flagged possible appendicitis. No good.
Can say at my local the aim is that a nurse would see you in the waiting room and take bloods, give some tablets, then a couple of hours later a doc would see you.
Now if you arrive at 230 am the wait is generally long as the number of doctors reduces at 1130pm, there’s usually a rush of patients between midnight and 2, so you are tailend of that.

Tassie.

Thankfully he didn't die.

I’ve had admitted patients waiting in chairs for much longer than that. As yet not anyone needing oxygen but I fear that will happen

The article mentions 40% of Ambulances were tied up waiting for admission on a Monday night, that’s appalling, but it’s funny because when I mentioned that doctors wouldn’t see people without a negative covid test I was called a liar or to go to the emergency department. So how many more people are presenting at emergency departments with basic problems they would normally see a GP for but GPS are refusing to see them.

Also wondering if all hospitals still have large covid wards sitting empty Taking up valuable ED space?
No covid specific ward at my local.
Not having huge issues currently with gp not seeing respiratory although some just assume it and go to ED (mind feeling short of breath is scary too); there was a wave of paediatric respiratory a couple of weeks ago

1. He was talking about Victoria where if we believe our government there is no virus circulating

2. I wasn’t talking about him as a public servant

3. There is a very large difference between doing nothing and panicking and bringing in over the top rules. Like mask wearing outdoors which the CHO of Victoria said was unnecessary yet the leader of the DACP still made Victorians wear for months.

Telling people to wear masks again because one person who never went anywhere outside the airport or his home tested positive would be an overreaction.

I do wonder if Dr Pete has commented on the repeated failures of his colleagues in ED that are leading to ambulance shortages? Or the lack of paramedics and ambulances on the road? Or does he only criticise based on political allegiances, much like you.
Ambulance off load is a function of inability to send admitted patients to the ward. Not inability of ED to do their job as you put it.

Thing is though, once that son-of-a-b*tch appendix burst inside of you, its game over, you're f’ed. Very rarely, if any, does a person survives from peritonitis.

Therefore, I fear of what could happen if the sensation of appendicitis reappears. If the health system was f’ed in 2014 I imagine it'll be 10X worse now and I'd probably be dead from it in the waiting room.

I didn't mean to make it about me, the original premise was that woman died whilst waiting 6 hours, which is an interminable amount of time, for an ambulance However this is just highlighting the deficiencies of the Victorian Health system over the past 7 years has been worsened significantly.
Ironic that Andrews was the Minister for Health some a decade ago and the system worsened with him handling that portfolio even more-so with him as Premier.
Its not surprising since the only part of health (based on DHHS annual reports) that has grown after Dan ignored warnings about his 2014 restructure is the bureacracy especially senior execs that have doubled since 2015 and keeps growing every year.

They would be replacements for the older buses. NSW has a rule on the fleet not being more than 12 years old on average.
Some states have a 20-25 year rule as well.

You dont need to go crazy. Just replace whats life expired

Only 1,400 members of the public were allowed to attend Melbourne's dawn service this year. They had to pre-register and get tickets to be able to get past the fence that was erected around the Shine of Remembrance.

Later the same day 85,000 people will be able to attend a football game at the MCG.
Yes I did hear about this. Did the government provide a reason? I also heard that other states including SA, QLD and ACT we’re doing the same thing...

Thats pretty much whats happening

i dont get anyone freaking out about this yet. when we have Volgren and BYD competing locally, we will have cheaper and better options. why rush?

Look I'm just questioning why the governments have made this decision. As I said, this is not exclusive to Victoria

They are claiming it's due to Covid restrictions. I don't how the decision tallies with 85,000 people being allowed at the footy.

Brisbane's ANZAC Day Dawn Service had unrestricted public access, was not ticketed and there were no contact tracing arrangements.

You know it was the RSL that made this decision you nuff.

It wasn't a government decision. The State Government told the RSL they were able to host an open event, the RSL chose to restrict access to protect elderly veterans.

News orgs and trolls with an agenda are now racing around the internet intimating that "Dictator Dan hates our veterans."

No one from the government is claiming anything you liar.

They gave the RSL approval for an open event over a week ago.

Where did you hear that because the RSL were in the media saying it was a government decision.
I heard it from the RSL State President who made the announcement during the week and their own website, which informed the public about the decision when it was made.

And the state government who two weeks ago, said they had open approval.

Likewise, this isn't even the first year with barricades lol.

The RSL don't set the rules. They have to conform to the government's Public Events Framework, and get sign off from Brett Sutton.
Yes they do you liar.

They were given approval for an open event, and instead chose certain restrictions.

Since they were the hosts and received a permit/approval for an open event, they are the ones deciding on the restrictions within the bounds of public safety ordinance. Which they openly declared via the RSL website and mailer and in the media.

You are making a tit of yourself. From the RSL website.

ANZAC Day 2021 will be commemorated in Melbourne and across Victoria this year within the State Government’s COVID-Safe Public Events Framework.

That's literally what I said dumbass.

It was up to the RSL how to implement that plan, after being given an open permit. They chose the restrictions on numbers and to extend the barriers.

Feel free to apologise at any time.
