If we were knee-jerk cowards like McGowan, we’d close the border to WA.

The issues in WA and NSW are showing again hotel quarantine will never be 100% guaranteed safe unfortunately because these places weren't designed for this purpose.

How about caring about China's behaviour in Xinjiang, but supplying bombs to the Saudis for their oppressive wars as well as dozens of other awful regimes who practice slavery (Uzbekistan, Saudi, Qatar)? Why is China's poor human rights record now such an issue? Because they're economically challenging the US.

There are two things you can't do that the US will come at you for. Threaten them economically and with-hold oil from their oil companies. Everything else is fair-game.

How the Australian Govt cares so much about starting a fight with China because the Yanks want us to is beyond me. It's stupid. Plenty of other countries we do business with who do terrible things we never condemn.

Chinese companies doing business here isn't that much different to the US companies who dominate the Engineering market.

John Holland is Chinese-owned and they do work for the Commonwealth and every state Government. They're one of two companies left in the bidding for North East Link.

Yep only the yanks invade countries and destroy infrastructure there which they themselves own or benefits folks back home.
Other powers never been so stupid

The State Liberals are an absolute rabble. An anti-Victorian one at that.

Good to see Pete has enough time between his vaccinations to keep whinging on Twitter, you lot would be lost without him!!!

Wear masks? Lol, if people wear masks I’ll assume they’re sick as the health advice was always only wear them if you’re sick.

Well, if anyone knows about whinging it's you. You a gold medal standard.

The bolded is a load of arrant nonsense. Only someone who is unhinged would write that unmitigated crap.

And fancy a dole bludging nonentity criticising a well-regarded medical practitioner.

Well regarded??? Lol, what makes him well regarded other than being 2nd biggest member of the Dan Andrew’s ass kissers club behind you?

  • On April 6, the World Health Organization released new guidance saying that healthy people don't need to wear face masks to prevent coronavirus spread.
  • Masks should be for the sick, their caretakers, and healthcare workers, the WHO guidance said.

  • But we’ll take the word of a public servant over the WHO on matters of health...

This is the WHO current face mask advice.

But nice try, Eddie.

Starting to turn into a crisis

Apparently major problems on WA also which may have influenced decisions to lockdown of the health system is in crisis without Covid cases.

But the usual suspects have always denied there’s a problem in Victoria, won’t admit how bad the health system and especially the lack of paramedics in the state.

They think it’s a good thing we tie up firefighters responding to medical emergencies because there are no ambulances.

If COVID-19 is spreading in your community,

I’m sorry, is there covid spreading in our community that the government isn’t telling us about?

Over six hours - that’s appalling.

A personal story of sorts, probably the cliff-notes: At about 2014 I was going for a walk around my block, when all the sudden I felt some intense pain in my lower right abdomen. Fearing it was my appendix, I darted to my GP, who then sent me to the emergency dept, to get tested for a possible appendicitis. I arrived there at, IIRC 2:30pm, I was only seen by a doctor at around 6;30, 4 hours after coming to the Hospital. Needless to say the emergency/health dept/system has been a total cluster**** for a long time.

In a normal set of circumstances you’d certainly hope that intense pain in your abdomen would result in way less than a four hour wait, especially if a GP has already flagged possible appendicitis. No good.

Nice selective quoting, well done.

Well AK1 and AK 2 are the ones saying we should be wearing masks now in Victoria, which is completely against the WHO advice. Fact is when it nots rampant in the community, only unwell people should be wearing masks, hence if I see someone wearing a mask these days I’ll assume they’re sick and stay the **** away!

I dont like defending Dan's government- but surely the biggest priority should be (and im not sure how you achieve this) cutting down the amount who clog up emergency rooms after for example simply having drank too much and feeling a bit sick. Remember being in emergency on sat morning for a legitimate reason and found it bewildering seeing all these tired and emotional drunks clogging up the system. (As you would expect most were sent how within 15 mins after being seen).

I note of course that may not have been a huge factor on a Wednesday regarding drunks, but plenty of other tenuous reasons people attend emergency.

The article mentions 40% of Ambulances were tied up waiting for admission on a Monday night, that’s appalling, but it’s funny because when I mentioned that doctors wouldn’t see people without a negative covid test I was called a liar or to go to the emergency department. So how many more people are presenting at emergency departments with basic problems they would normally see a GP for but GPS are refusing to see them.

Also wondering if all hospitals still have large covid wards sitting empty Taking up valuable ED space?
