Have you ever seen Hurley play?
If you have you would realise Hurley has played 2/3 of his career as a Key pos Defender, he has beaten N Riewoldt, Tredrea, j Riewoldt, Pods and many others as a KPD, really only got towled up by J Brown, to be switched forward and show how good a player as a forward he could become.

Yeah I have seen him play and think he is a good defender but a overhyped forward. I haven't seen much from him as a forward to justify the hype coming out of Melbourne. I think he could be a great defender but wasted up forward.

LMFAO.
You would play 1 of the most competitive players in the game, 1 of the most promising KPF in the game as a defender.
Start Watching him please, you may want to be educated on the topic if you are going to compare him to another player.

I could pull a ton of vision of Walker to show you that he is a better instinctive forward. The good old take a look at a youtube clip to prove my point routine :thumbsu:

I'm not saying it is right or wrong, but there are quite a few people in Melbourne who share this view.

Adelaide supporters overrate their players.

They wonder why their forward line doesn't work and then they praise Walker for kicking easy goals while Tippett struggles against 2 players and there are no crumbing opportunities for the smalls.

The top teams have key forwards who do the hard stuff. Walker needs to work on playing taller and sacrificing his own goal tally to create more opportunities for the whole forward line.

On talent you can't split them but Hurley for me right now.

There's this strange stigma about Walker that paints him as a lazy beer swilling spud.

Fact is he's only 21 and already averages over 2 goals a game. His stats eclipse all other young forwards and yet the discussion is always Reid v Hurley v Butcher. The lopsided result of this poll shows that Walker is seen as a rung below.

Makes no sense.

Wouldn't worry about it. You'll get posters who say Adelaide fans overrate their players anyway, even when the stats seem to show that Walker is the best young tall forward in the game. His extra size this season is going to help him with his contested marking which was a bit of an area to work on, but he took a couple of nice marks against GC which showed improvement.

Coaches votes in 2011 in his 17 games
Hurley 38

Brownlow votes in 2011 in his 17 games
Hurley 6

more then Walker has scored in his entire career to date, 46 games.

Umpires and Coaches see Hurley's last 17 games better than Walkers 46 games lol

Walker will kick more goals, Hurley will do just about everything else better.

That is pretty much the crux of it. Walker is a key forward, and that's all he could possibly be. Hurley is far more athletic than Walker, and works a fair bit harder. But Walker is one of the most instinctive forwards you'll ever see. His skills are superior to Hurley's (which is no slight on him) and he knows where the goals are.

Plonk them both at full forward for their whole careers and Walker will kick more goals. Hurley will take more marks, have more possessions, lay more tackles etc. But Walker will kick more goals.

You'd probably take Hurley over Tex, as he's so much more versatile, but the comparative lovefest is a little unbalanced right now. Walker has shown so much more than the Victorian media especially seem to have noticed.

I would say Hurley has the better skills personally.
