This is pretty categorical stuff, and Roos is renowned as a straight shooter. Hutchy is quickly losing what little credibility remains.


The Nine Network's Melbourne Footy Show last night reported that the Swans were looking to offer Fevola the $750,000 a season deal, and Fevola who was a panelist on the show initially denied he had spoken with Sydney, before stating: "I'm not going to talk about my contract, I'm sick of talking about my contract, Carlton's sick of talking about my contract."

But Roos was quick to say this morning that the club had not had talks with Fevola and they expect he will re-sign with the Blues.

"I haven't spoken to Brendan, nobody from the club ... Andrew Ireland (Sydney's football general manager) hasn't spoken to Brendan," Roos said.

"I don't know where these things come from. We haven't made Brendan an offer and we would expect him to sign with Carlton in the not too distant future. Why it comes up and where it comes from, we are a bit dumbfounded.

"At the moment we're like all clubs expecting him to sign with Carlton and we expect that to happen shortly.

"We absolutely haven't made him a four-year off, we haven't made any offer what so ever. It's ridiculous, $3 million over four years, I don't know where that comes from.

"Our expectations are that he will sign with Carlton, and if that was to change, then we would sit down and talk as a footy club as to whether we believe that Brendan would fit into the club, but until that happens, it's sort of almost pointless discussing whether he would come, and whether you'd want him to come.

"It's very difficult to poach a player of that nature from a club by financial offer or "come and look at the Harbour Bridge it's beautiful" or whatever. A type of player like Brendan has to decided does he want to stay at Carlton or does he want to leave. Now if he said he wanted to leave then I'm sure there would be a number of clubs that would entertain having him.

"But at this stage, it's ridiculous to suggest we have made him an offer. We haven't."

I don't know what to believe but what are the chances of Fev being on the show when the story breaks.......Did Fev have a hand in this to push the buck up higher, who the hell knows.

deadoralive, how does Roos look down the road if it comes out Fevola was approached by Sydney? What would you say if you were him then? I reckon the bloke has more integrity than to straight-out lie. Be different if he'd dodged the question.

How does Ayres look now then??? when it was suggested to him on Radio that Ben Cousins was going to Port Melbourne and would be signing up on the Monday he suggested that he knew nothing about it, & that there has been no discussion about it from a senior point of view. However, he later revealed that he had spoken to the playing group about possibly having Cousins come and play with them, and sure enough later on that evening Cousin in an interview with the Footy Show revealed that he was going to sign up with Port Melbourne.

Now i dont think that that particular interview was conducted after Ayres was on air, as it was done in Perth by Gary Lyon earlier on in the week...

Everyone with authority in the AFL lies... Swanny lied to us last year suggesting that we hadnt made contact with Judd's management, yet i know for a fact that Juddy was commited & happy to coming to Carlton in April provided we could get the deal done

Theres a difference between asking gary ayres on the day the footy show has probably the biggest footy interview ,with ben cousins and hes plans rarara , im sure gary ayres was told to hush until the show aired.

Spot on. And, as for his interview/interrogation of Polaks' girlfriend on the Footy Show, woeful. The poor girl, who is clearly no idiot, gave up her time to answer his constant repetitive questions and as it wore on and on, you could see she was getting noticeably annoyed with this clown and yet she remained polite to the bitter end. Full credit to her and her good grace.

But this f___wit Hutchy, is useless. Piss poor journalism.

On Triple M, Damien Barrett was speaking about this, and i must say i respect him 1000 time more than Hutchy, and he said the way Sydney are handling this is the same way the handled the Peter Everitt situation two years ago. Two years ago they all denied everything to the moon and then of course will all know Everitt landed in Sydney.

If Fev does go to Sydney, then personally i will lose the respect i have for Fev as on so many occasions he has said he want to repay the faith Carlton have put in him and that he wan't to be a Carlton player for his career.

The rumor of Sydney is $750k per season, the rumour of Carlton's offer in $700k a season, if Fev is hanging out for $50k then let him go, i know its for 1 more year, but even so, next year is Fev's 10th year, he is then entitled long service leave and can go onto the vet's list later in his career where Carlton can offer more to him as only half is in the salary cap.

In the end, if Fev wants to prostitute himself around and screw Carlton, le thim, cause Sydney aren't going places anytime soon, whereas Carlton are and if he doesn't want to be part of the rebirth, then move on.

I like Fev, i love watching him, he makes Carlton exciting, but if his heart isn't in it after what Carlton have done for him, then he can get stuffed.

Where there is smoke, there is fire..... Fev wouldnt look Hutchy in the eye and tell him he hadnt been approached when challenged to do so. No doubt somebody connected to Sydney has made contact. We all know this sort of poaching happens. A long shot that he would get to Sydney even if he wanted to. Fev will be a Blue as long as we want him to be. The deal will get done. That is all.
