The link to the article below was entitled 'Next season last for Pavlich'. Then I read the article and there was no direct quote from anyone. Kim's quoting himself these days it seems....I guess if you throw enough darts, one might land on the board eventually.

But the Dockers legend and his high-powered manager Craig Kelly have also launched talks on a full-time role at Seven for 2016 when the curtain is likely to have been drawn on his distinguished career that includes six Doig medals as Fremantle’s fairest-and-best player.

Kelly and Melbourne’s Seven general manager and boss of football hiring and firing Lewis Martin are long standing mates and have held preliminary discussions on Pavlich being a full-time member of commentary teams after next season.

An Old Aquinian that was a passionate Tigers supporter who hated the Dockers!!
I'm glad you sorted yourself out Nat Fyfe.....

“I was actually a passionate Richmond supporter when I was younger and my least favourite team was the Dockers – I absolutely hated them.

“This was to the extent that at the AFL draft camp, two weeks before the AFL draft, I was trying desperately to get in front of the Richmond recruiters, but they weren’t interested in me at all.

“Then I heard Freo was interested so I was trying to do everything possible so they wouldn’t pick me up.

“But I ended up there and my journey with Freo has been fantastic so far, with the highlight being playing in the 2013 grand final.”

It also shows how ingrained players get in the club they are drafted to, and the club they 'barracked for as a kid' is pretty quickly forgotten...

Culture, too has a big part to play of course. Hopefully Roosy doesn't change the culture at Melbourne too dramatically that we can't lure 'childhood Freo supporter' Jesse Hogan back at some stage. And maybe 'childhood Freo supporter' Angus Brayshaw might like a move west at some point too... Just to name a couple off the top of my head.

But tbh - I don't actually like our future captain saying crap like this. By all means say he was a passionate Richmond supporter and wanted to be drafted by them, but to say we were his 'least favourite', and he 'absolutely hated us', and that he tried everything he could 'not to get drafted by us' is pretty poor IMO.

(The fact he was a passionate Richmond supporter also suggests a significant character flaw... eek! #SonSon4Captain ;) )

I liked it, it's so rare for honesty to actually come out these days. Most of the times players sound like robots and every interview they do is basically pointless, so to hear honesty is refreshing.

Entirely agree with you.
It was best, unsaid.

I agree, found it a little distasteful that he was so vehement about expressing how much he didn't like Freo.
He probably didn't expect it to make the mainstream media and may have said it within the context of making a point about something else since he was giving a talk to students.
Wouldn't be surprised if they just took that bit out of context.

It's nice knowing how much a football club's culture (lead by RTB) can be character building and change someone who used to hate us into being one of our strongest leaders and most likely future captain.

I don't know if it's me being paranoid but for some reason Fyfe saying those things makes me feel the door is slightly open for him to leave us and go elsewhere. I know it's unlikely at this stage and plus the fact he is a WA-born and has strong ties to his family's farm etc, but who knows, maybe one day he will want to play in Melbourne and want that kind of lifestyle?
