I think it works both ways. If he is going to put himself out in the public eye (and ear) so much, he has to expect some feedback, positive and negative.

You my friend have just displayed the extent of your intelligence! Just because you like Eddie does not mean that we have to back off. This is a forum and everyone is entitled to their opinion. I personally think that Eddie is the biggest tool at channel nine and he is a pathetic commentator. You should cringe at the amount of dribble that comes out of his mouth.

i believe that eddie is good for footy. he shows passion and enthusiasm.
collingwood supporters think he is the second coming the rest of us get riled up by his one-eyed support and love it when the pies come chrashing back down.
i have yet seen him do anything that makes the game less of a specticle. i'm sure the power fans would loved to have seen cornes call the game on friday night but then the rest of us would be pulling our hair out.

What is wrong with having one voice on the commenatry team from both sides of the fence?
One voice for Collingwood, one voice for Port. Then each one can barrack to their hearts content.
Either that, or all the callers should be neutral.
Having just Eddie and other Victorian commentators on that call was a huge mistake by Nine.

Most people like Eddie. He IS good for football. But on Friday night he did exactly what he said he wouldn't do. It detracts from the enjoyment of the game for most people.
Also, Patrick Smith in The Australian today has indulged in selective analysis. But then, the Herald Sun (who Eddie writes for) and The Australian are published by the same mogul.
