That ratts moves eddie into the middle more often, i was just watching the collingwood game round 12 this year, and he ripped it up.
i just like the idea of him going into the middle a bit more...

Yeh, I reckon this is a great idea to do because he is talented and this would definitely get him more into the game as he has limited opportunities in the fwd line. I remember in round three when we played the bumbers and he had like 25 + possessions and I thought if only he could get his hands on it like that he can really take his game up a notch.

Eddie has established himself as a very handy small forward. The next step that he needs to make, not only for himself, but also for the club, is to become a part of the midfield rotation on game day.

However, I'm just not sure that he has the engine to become a midfielder. He looks great in short bursts through the middle, but I highly doubt that he can run a game out through the middle of the ground. This is where, hopefully, Mr Cordy will well and truly earn the big bucks.

He's more valuable to us as a small forward who can pinch hit in the middle anyway. Whenever we need a spark we can chuck him in the middle, and more often than not he gets it out.

Yep, the St Kilda game in 2007 is proof, that in short bursts, he can extract it from the centre, when we need to

Buy a rope, tie one end to Robert Harvey and the other to Betts. Tell Harvs to run laps around PP till he's spewing twice a week over the preseason.

Problem solved. :)

Like Betts in the middle. Has a bit of that X factor about him when moved in there, and did very well there towards the end of 2007. Maybe his career might follow a similar pattern to Davis, who had an excellent 08 playing further up the ground?

I am totally happy just to have a dangerous small forward :)(totally)

Yeh agreed. As good as Eddie can be at the clearances, as quick lightening as his reflexes are, with our strong midfield rotation he's more important to us up forward (as long as his work rate remains consistant). :thumbsu:

Is he really that dangerous as a small forward, IMO he doesnt kick enough goals as a forward, yes his pressure to keep the ball in and his attack on the ball is great but you dont see him kicking 6,7,or like Milne(who i really dislike) 10 goals in a game. Whats the most eddie has kicked in a game? How many goals did he kick last season? But this is only my opinion, i know alot of people wont like it.

we DON’T need him to play on the ball we need him kicking more goals! It's easy for any player to run around in the middle and take a few marks and get a few extra kicks!

We need him kicking 40 + goals and applying more forward pessure from the forward pocket –that’s a harder position for Eddie to play - he has a backman on him 24/7 and IMO I don’t think he has yet quite dominated that position for a full game!

Agree Barnsey, thats what i was eluding too, i think we need a player who can kick goals and scout the packs more than another midfielder.
