Yeh... Clinks did alright... And a huge improvement on last year. Well done Clinkers!! Our new development coaches must be doing something right!

The main thing I'd pick out of Clinks game (as a negative) is that he needs to work on his long kicks. Short kicks are all fine (and fashionable at the moment)... But they need to make the distance when you're kicking from 50m for a goal. :-/

I was most impressed by his willingness to actually attack the footy/contest and also run/break the lines when required. It was probably what I was most critical of him for in previous years.

Questionable disposal is not a massive issue if you play to your strengths - in Hinkley's case he is seriously ****ing fast - do all the team things, go when it's your turn and generally just play your role. If he hasn't made DeBoer his role model by now, he should.

Fyfe looks tired... a lot of the guys look really tired before the bouncedown.

Yep, our players - particularly the younger ones - are noticeably buggered. Not being able to rest players with bumps and bruises is really starting to take it's toll.

I reckon De boer is probably faster than Hinks tbh. Matty D has a surprising amount of toe and think he tested quite well in the 20m sprints at draft camp? Not that it matters or proves much; Hinkley probably had superior results in that area during draft camp anyway.

Hinkley is supposedly fast but I've never seen him use it effectively.

DeBoer is certainly fast, but over 20-30m I reckon Hinkley would be faster. I might have to organise a race at lunchtime.

It's one of the many things I like about DeBoer though, he's tall, hard and fast, it makes it pretty easy to slot him into the side in a variety of roles. Hinkley isn't anywhere near as good at winning the footy at stoppages as DeBoer, but he should be able to do a lot of the team stuff that DeBoer does, which means he should be able to fill a role at times like other players ranked 15-30 on our list.

Woaha, were you at the game? .......it's not just about numbers. It's not hard for afl mids to rack up big possession counts. Schammer does it every other week...

Palmer was ok inside, and he ran hard all day......but his disposal into the fwd line was simply not good enough. There were several times that he took possession well, broke the lines with a run and bounce only to shank the kick into the fwd line. He also took a ridiculous shot from the members pocket when the game was in the balance while obrien was unmarked and screaming for it.

IMHO he HAS to improve his delivery into the fwd line if wants a regular midfield position at freo.

I'll concede this considering you were obviously at the game. From what I was told his use wasn't too bad (by his standards) but obviously continuously shanking kicks into the attacking 50 isn't the best look. I reckon the best way to use him would be as an inside mid, but Harvs obviously has different ideas.

I called it before the game, that he would contribute more than Palmer has (as a sub anyway) and i stand by that.. Hinkley for me is a right footed Palmer clone (of the last 3 years), but has more pace.

Very impressed with his game.. especially his clean hands, dont remember him fumbling at all.. Never going to be a star, but can still make it as a list depth player.

So Hinkley, despite only being a likely depth player in the future, is superior to Palmer?

FFS clone? The only thing they have in common is dodgy kicking, Palmer's inside game is still exceptional, Hinkley doesn't even have one.

Inside game is horrible??? See his Preseason games from last did you? he was one of the better inside mids (when played there) we had going around at that stage.. then never got a crack for the rest of the year.. even on sunday his in close work was good i thought and hands excellent

At this point in time give me Hinks over Palmer any week.. and no im not his buddy, so im not taking the piss
