Sorry all.

My Vic bias got the better of me.

Shane Watson deserves his spot in the one day team.

I'll say no more about Hodgey.

Great win last night!

Remember it takes a man to admit he is wrong.:D

By admitting you were wrong you've displayed a lot more balls and sense than a lot of people.

Personally, I've thought Watson was capable of being a valuable ODI player for us, but I believe he was given an armchair ride into the side too early, at the expense of players like Hodge, who earned their spot based on proven performances, not Watson who was given his on potential.

That being said, his being in the side never really cost us anything, and maybe it's helped him develop to where he is now, and you'd be hard pressed to argue he shouldn't be in the side now.

Meh, i've defender Watson for a long time on here (and i'm not a huge fan) - not from those who think he is an average player, but those who think he is a "hack". One tournament isn't going to change anything. As soon as he makes a mistake, the "hack" calls will be out again.

What I have detected is a distinct "all quiet on the Western (or should I say Southern) front" over Matthew Hayden. Has proved the nuff-nuffs wrong again with another brilliant innings and MOTM performance. Will take a monumental effort for someone to top him for player of the series. Has scored 100 more runs than his nearest rival, and is averaging over 80.

Where are you Hayden-haters??

I've learnt to accept whatever team the Aussies selectors pick because they have got so little wrong over the past 10 years or so. They've done a great job.

How good was his innings last night!!!!
Mathew Hayden at his best. One of the few players I have ever seen who can absolutly dominate an attack and make them bowl to him. When on fire, by far the best played to watch in the australian team. Gave his wicket away with a silly shot tho, should have gone on and got 150+

I was wrong about Hayden and McGrath, thought they were finished.

I'll admit I was wrong aswell. However, I was correct about Brad Hogg. Sensational player.

Watson is so good for team balance. Just looking at the team that played Srilanka and the team that playedNZ and the latter is clearly better

He needs to produce a lot more to even up the ledger.

Kudos to him though last night, was a very good knock.

One swallow doesn't a summer make but he's always had the advantage over Hodge because he can bowl. The way the top order has played this WC has also meant that lower order batsmen haven't had anything but cameo roles to play. You would think that Watson is better suited to this though his power hitting has probably taken some by surprise. Hodge is more suited to a longer, measured innings but this hasn't been required.

With our batting order so dominant, he doesn't get much opportunity to produce a lot more. 142 not out off 80 balls is doing all he can from those opportunities.

ER of 4.15 is exceptional for the 5th bowler, yes i realise he's only taken 2 wickets.

Always loved Hayden-bloody champion!

Watson is very good I agree. But I don't think Hodge has had much opportunity to prove his usefulness just the same. Played in the side since Watson was injured but batted zero times. But I agree, Watson is our all rounder.

Feel bad for Hodge, did everything that was asked of him, but sometimes things don't go your way. I had my doubts about Watson, mainly about his ability to come in and score quickly at the end on an innings which before this WC he was very crap at. It gives me great pleasure not only to say that i was wrong and that Watson can smash the ball, but to see that Watson took an area of his game that was a weakness and has worked on it and turned it into a strength. As long as he has the mentality to keep improving himself i can see him being a part of both aussie teams for a very long time.
