Totally agree gav. We give away a star and get well nothing to be honest.

The PA deal could be something like Pearce+Krakour+a decent first round pick. The minimum deal would include a top five pick in my opinion. Without adding quality players, the minimum deal would need to also include a top 10 pick. In the end, serviceable players are not what we require on our list.

Lets say Salopek wanted to go home to Vic. We traded him to a Vic club and pick up a early first rounder say 3-7. Port finish 5th and therefore get pick 12. We trade you pick 3-7 and pick 12 plus any one of Surjan, Cassisi, White, Pettigrew, Surjan or Krakour.

Now think about this logically, if you lose Pav, your not going to win the flag any time soon, so you might as well start rebuilding. Would 2 first round draft picks plus a good young Western Australian boy be enticing?

Salopek isnt worth a pick that early, no chance there.
for either of us to get him we need to trade big or work a 3 way deal somewhere.
Port would need to give up someone like a S.Burgoyne or a C.Cornes if they want to trade just players, or trade someone of high value to get a high first round pick.

Adelaide the same, but i still like what i posted earlier:

one possiblilty is a 3 way trade.

something like:

Pavlich to Adelaide
Reilly to Western Bulldogs
Western Bulldogs first round pick to Adelaide
Farren Ray, and 2 first rounders to Fremantle
3rd round pick to Western Bulldogs

so if that works out correct each team gets the following:

Adelaide = Pavlich
Fremantle = Farren Ray and 2 first round picks
Western Bulldogs = Brent Reilly and a 3rd round pick

Salopek isnt worth a pick that early, no chance there.

I reckon he is. Has been a bit slow to get going because of injury but is starting to make an impact. Was touted as a possible top 3 draft pick and fell to number 6. He is only 21. I reckon a club like Richmond, Hawhthorn or the Kangaroos would trade for him.

possibly but its a very high risk trade for them as he has been injury prone and those teams cant afford to chuck away their 1st round picks

Pav will apparently command $700K a year.

That's ****ing outrageous.

Why?? Sport is a massive business now, the elite players deserve to make a good living. David Beckham will be on over a million dollars a week at the LA Galaxy, that's ****ing outrageous.

Peake got 10 brownlow votes last year.

Surjan?

Piss off tool.
Maybe you should spend some time with Peter Bell. I watched Surjan towel him up in the first half, game 1 this year (before Surj's hard running forced him off with an "injury") followed by Shannon Grant, Leon Davis, Steven Milne & Andrew Krakouer.

Gee that throws a spanner in the works of your incredible illustration of player ability and importance. Brett "I go missing when it gets tough" Peake versus Jacob "I'll die for my team mates to win" Surjan.

Be sure to thank South Fremantle for giving us The DOC! Oh btw, enjoying 13th?

Victorian teams would definately be interested in Salopek. I'm not sure about pick 3-7 for him, but you'd get a first round selection. Say you got pick 10 for Surjan + Ports first round pick + ports 2nd round pick + Cassisi.

We'll talk after round 22 - See where you finish before you start mouthing off about us being 13th. Havent seen finals played in May well ever!

Re: Awful Feeling

If Pav goes, it will only be to SA.

They wont have any decent pre season draft picks so we will be handsomly compensated and will be able to build a midfield which will be capable of kicking it to,

Tarrant, Murphy, Collard, Farmer and Campbell

No Pav no worries

Good way to look at this. Still have some good forward talent without him & have immense bargaining power re:trades.

A chance to improve your midfield in this years draft

Personally I think Pav will stay for one more contract, before heading back to SA.

If he does want to head back though, he's not going to get Fremantle the price if they had the other club over the proverbial barrel. However I don't think he'd screw Freo. either, so a fair price would be required.

Freo. will still have a good forward line without Pavlich. Not as good obviously, but still good. From an outsider looking in, your glaring problem is your midfielders would struggle to beat my 93 year old gran. in a foot race.

So from a Port point of view I'd be looking at offering 1st round pick + Krakouer (you would have already seen him elude your snailfeeders in round 1) + one of Cassisi, Surjan or White (depending on whether you wanted another KPP or a good shut down defender).

Trades involving more then a net 2 picks/players for Fremantle I can't see going through - think about it. With 2 players plus a pick, or 2 picks plus a player that's already 2 more you are going to have to cut from your own list. Admittedly after CC has you miss the finals there'll be a clean-out, but unless you want to wait another 3 to 4 years for another flag crack it wouldn't be wholesale.

Don't disagree with your post Andre and time will tell. Any forward line missing a forward of Pavlich's quality would be significantly diminished though.

But I think the real issue would be the quality of the 1st round pick. There is a massive difference in quality between a pick 1-3, then 4-10, then 10-anywhere. And in your trade I am assuming that you are suggesting a pick in the 10-anywhere range.

That'd be the issue with a trade (with either SA clubs) I agree. The trade I moot with a pick 12 - 14 (what Port are likely to end up with), would in all honesty favour us slightly. One with a pick 6-10 probably about even, however given the fact he's your captain and most marketable commodity a top 5 pick would need to be thrown in. That'd be the hard bit for either SA club, finding a 3rd club to do a deal with to upgrade their 1st round pick without the trade costing them more then any one player gained is worth.
