If we want Kerr, much as it pains me to say it, but I'd look at Pick 11 + Davis.

He's 27 going on 28, and the nucleus of our young side is 6-7 years younger. I hate giving up players who are pure class, such as Neon, but it seems the pragmatic choice to me.

Having said that, Nesbitt of the Eagles has admitted recently that the ball is in their court as far as a Kerr deal is concerned, so I'd expect a three year extension (ie. in effect a four-year deal) to be put to Kerr as soon as next week. The Eagles don't want to be pushed around by Kerr while he's under contract anyway, but they don't want this to drag into trade week either, I wouldn't imagine. They'll offer effectively four years, and he'll probably agree, IMHO.

To be fair though, kevind, Leon's stocks at 27 have never been higher than they are now, and will probably never be again. I see your point but I think a long-term view is needed... unless the club thought that Reid is a complete spud, which they don't seem to.

None of those options thats for sure.

Kerr's stock has gone down in my opinion with the absense of Cousins and Judd.

Has anyone actually monitored his form this year?

Why we would we give up anything for him??? or do we have too many old prescription pads lying round that we need stolen??? great midfielder in his day... with Judd, Cousins and Cox leading the way, but not anymore. I'll take Cousins, but who wants someone at Collingwood who takes Katamine (For those who dont know thats what Kerr was busted on the phone hunting down... Horse trankquilizer... way stronger than LSD)

Eagles are just as young though, don't see 11+Leon getting it done.

Yeah, not that keen on Kerr coming to Collingwood anyway, for the reasons Smokey's alluded to. The suggestion that we trade Didak because of his off field behaviour and then get Kerr is like suggesting that we get rid of Britney Spears in favour of Lindsay Lohan.

So in that context, of the options listed neither. Davis would be preferrable to trade than Thomas, if it came to having to chose, but I'd rather keep both.

Lol ... ketamine has hallucinogenic properties but is nothing like LSD.
To say that you'd prefer someone who had an ice addiction based on their choice of drug is absolutely ridiculous. Both have made mistakes in their pasts, Cousins were far worse (as far as the public knows).

I'd take them both.

I'd really hate to see Davis go, but there'll always be speculation that he wants to return home. The club should speak to him and if he assures us that he wants to stay for the rest of his career, then I'd be looking at something else for Kerr. If we could get him for Pick 11 + Reid, I'd do it.
Especially considering how we got Reid ... Tarrant + Pick 11 (08) for a far-improved Medhurst and Kerr?
Definitely.

if we could get a first round pick for josh.. draft white or lade cheaply maybe swap lade for rhyce... throw in pick 11 with the late first rounder aquired thru josh.. we have kerr...
add cuz in the PSD along woth lade.. we will win a flag...
probably wont happen but id rather keep leon that lose him.. he is the class along with dids that we need to be serious contenders next year..

No, Ben Reid is far from being a spud,i think he will about the level of Chris Tarrant or a little under, but after watching the final v StKilda, we cannot afford to 1. Lose players who kick well(Leon) or 2. Add anymore players who struggle to kick well(Reid).

Yes, Leon's currency will never be higher and maybe this year has been his pinnacle year, but I don't think we can afford to lose any players of his type. Certainly, Kerr is better, but at the end of the day we will only be slightly better off. We have many tall KPPs and can afford to lose at least one of them without too much stress.

I think Dawes may end up to be a decent player, so i would keep him in front of Reid due to Reid's kicking problems. Therefore if the unlikely occurrs and we get Kerr, losing Reid would make less difference to our team.

How about these for unlikely trades
-Pick 11 and Ben Reid for Daniel Kerr
-2nd round pick and Josh Fraser for Warnock
-3rd round pick for Ben Cousins

It will only be trades like this that would put us in Flag contention next year. And it would certainly stuff up Carlton's plans. Highly unlikely to see the light of day, but it would make me a happy little magpie.

do u think warnock is better than fraser? i dont.. and i think josh plus a pick is overpaying.. considering we mifht be able to get first rounder(late one) .. id still trade fraser out and pick 11 to try and get kerr though...

we should be able to get cousins in the psd before the saints now..

If you are hiding ya precription pads from Kerr then you must be hiding the key to the grog cabinet from didak. Dont call the kettle black sooty.

Doesn't answer the question of why we'd want another substance abuser at the club, or to trade one abuser for another though, does it?

Plus, as Spartan said, Kerr's efforts have been worse that Didak's IMO...

Nope travelling with gangland figures while drunk . Leaving the scene of accidents while drinking, is there a common thing here or do we not want to admit this guy has a grog problem. ( if ya keep ya head in the sand then someone will kick your ass)

Yeah right. Poor effort even for an embittered Eagles fan. Took a car ride with a stranger when drunk, and later under duress when the bloke produced a gun. Stupid situation to get into? Yes. Criminal? No.

Leaving the scene of an accident when drinking? Was he driving? No. Again, not actually criminal.

Arranging to improperly purchase prescription drugs with the intention of misusing them. Criminal. Assaulting people. Criminal.

Didak is an idiot off the field, and he has a drinking problem. We suspended him for, what, six games, and have in the past put him on a behaviour-specific based contract, and will no doubt be imposing such restrictions and counselling again. So I don't think you can say that we deny the guy has a problem. Compared to... what have the Eagles done about Kerr's efforts?
