who do you think from 1991-2005 will feature in the adelaide crows team of the century in 2091 :D

i was bored at work and this question popped into my head so for something different i thought id ask the board

i think there are only 3 defenites in -

-andrew mcleod
-mark ricciuto
-ben hart

maybes
-darren jarman
-tony modra (id have him FF no matter what, but someones bound to come along and play for longer and kick alot more goals which is an injustice :( )
-shaun rehn

longshot
-simon goodwin
-nigel smart
-scott welsh

asking the same question in 10 years time
-ben rutten?
-chris knights?
-scott thompson?
-bryce gibbs? :D
-meesen/maric?

coach
-will anyone ever top the messiah :p

Roo, Macca and Hart would make it.

Modra will probably make it as he probably will be the last genuine FF we have. A possie on the bench. DJ would get in as well I reckon. he virtually won our first flag for us.

Roo, McLeod and Hart are certainties.

I also think Modra will make it. He only played 118 games for us but still managed to kick 440 goals as a Crow. Thats an average of 3.73 goals per game over his career as a Crow. That average will be hard to beat.

I certainly hope someone tops 'the messiah!' We want to have plenty more flags by 2090. At the very least another 10, anything else would be a massive underachievement.

I think Roo's the only one who is assured to make it. In 85 years time, I'd expect us to have at least another 4 or 5 Brownlow winners, and if things stay as they do I imagine most will be from the midfield.
Macca and Hart will give a good showing, but in 85 years time who knows how they will be remembered? Most of the people that saw them live will be dead, and how many people growing up are going to watch enough old games to get a good idea about the player. That's where they're going to base their decisions on legend and stats.
So Roo, yes, the others, only time will tell.

Hart will play 300 games by the time he hangs them up. That is right up there in the freaky category. I would like to know how many 300 game player in other clubs missed out on team of the century. I would think very few if any.

Hart is just as much of a certainty as Roo.

andrew mcleod will always be a legend even in 85 years time.. his records currently show 3 day/night premierships for 3 best on ground performances. There will never be a greater big game player for us as far as im concerned

i would of thought only roo is the certainty. Alot depends on how macca and hart finish off their careers, its only been 2-3 yrs since macca was producing his best stuff and since then his whole career as a player has been unfairly tainted as being lazy and disinterested and only flashy when really he was consistently one of the comps best for a few yrs and is probably still our clubs best player to date.

I doubt whether any of them will make it.
The current day players makeup/capability will be vastly different in 2050 let alone 2090 and I doubt they would get a look in.

Ricciuto is a stonewall certainty at least.

A Brownlow, 3 x Club Champion, 8 x AA (+ two as captain), 300+ games (to come), Premiership player and six seasons and counting as club captain... and he's still only 30.

Pick any player in the 109 season history of the VFL/AFL and his record stacks up comparably at worst - I doubt there'll be 18-22 superior Crows (= Brownlow Medallists, at the very least) in the forthcoming 80-odd years.

yes but surely they would take ur point into consideration and pick the players who deserve to picked no matter what era they came from (grand final heros, brownlow medallists etc)

i would put my life on andrew mcleod and mark ricciuto making that team

Only Roo IMO at the minute with a possability of Hart.

Not sure how history will record Macca but surely he will be considered.

Lets hope we do get some more possabilities in the Modra mould that play longer in the future.

Arent people forgetting the 2 time premiership captain M Bickley ???

To me there would be Roo, Bickley, Hart, McLeod and Modra in that side. If football remains how it is now Modra has a good chance to possibly remain our highest goal scorer in a season therefore ensuring his spot at full forward.

Yeah since you put it like that DT Roo will be a shoe-in.:thumbsu:

Add dual premiership player and 9 AAs after this year:D coz Goody will rob him of Brownlow points

In 85 years time, everyone will wonder who Shaun Rehn is and how he made the side.

While Shaun was a great player, a 2x premiership player in fact, a club champion and our heart and soul for the best part of a decade, despite having 3 knee reconstructions, if he makes our team of our first century with just 134 games, we will have had a pretty ordinary next 85 years for ruckmen.

I think and hope by then, we will have had a few better ruckmen, hopefully half a dozen.

He was great though, and I'll always remember him and his contribution.

Well, yes, because these exercises are biased in favour of the living. Shine Hosking being a case in point for the PAFC team of the century.

Excluding those who got to over 300 games at multiple clubs, there are only 2 - Ian Nankervis (325 games Geelong - named as an emergency, but not in team) and Gary Foulds (300 games with Essendon). Wayne Campbell (297 with Richmond) runs close.
