Good to see that we have no injuries that are above 4 weeks... I think we have the best looking injury list in the AFL with this. Great player management. However i don't believe Rusling will ever make it back. Do we write him off now?

I have faith in Rusling making it and no way would I write him off only to see him pop up and kill them at another club.

Has age on his side..

He's contracted for the season.
Write him off when it's finished if he can't get on the paddock.

Corrie injured again plays one game then gets injured. Also sad to see Rounds out for a couple of weeks.

Corrie will never play another game for Collingwood - guaranteed.
We can't even offload him for any value at season's end.
Big trade mistake.

Rusling is the same boat, but might be a good trade off the Power or Crows for a high draft pick and they can deal with it.

Big trade mistake.

I don't think so. We used up a very late draft pick which we weren't otherwise going to use. It was a gamble, it doesn't look like it will pay off, but if it doesn't we lost nothing. I can see the thinking behind the decision to draft him.

That just wont happen. In a hypothetical if he were to be traded home they wouldn't give up much for him considering his injury history.

What? This is far from true. He's a year older than Dale Thomas and played 80 less games. His body just can't handle the rigours of football. It's no slight on him, not his fault at all, but sometimes you've got to wake up and face facts that this bloke will never string more than 5 games together.

There will be one or two retirements this year, a possible Gold Coast loss, plus Corrie and Cook will most likely be delisted, so I'd prefer to keep the Rus on for another year contract and pick up 2 or 3 from the draft and maybe a trade.

As long as the injury next to Rusling's name isn't shoulder related, I see no reason to write him off so early into the season.

We knew this was his last ditch effort to try and make it, it hasn't started well and seemingly isn't heading towards a good finish, but there is no prize for being the first to lay the boot into him.

He probably should have been on the rookie list this year in hindsight, but I guess the staff thought he was a chance to play AFL games if he could just stay on the park.
Anyway, let's just see how he recovers from this and how he finishes off the last 15-18 weeks of the season. If he runs out the season well I'd be looking at a mature age rookie spot, especially with the trash draft picks we will have.

I find Jmac more concerning at this stage anyway, 20 year old kids with chronic hamstrings injuries don't fill me with confidence especially on the back of the O.P he suffered during his junior years.

He takes up a list spot if nothing else. List spots are valuable and so are late picks and rookie selections. Corrie was far from a disaster but I could never see the logic in wasting a pick or a spot on a dud that struggled with an inferior side coached by the best in the business.

It's one thing to punt on Freo under performers but if Mathews thinks you aint got it then you more than likely aint. Richmond are the new Freo. We should target some of their underperformers - Deludio would be my fist choice. Has the pace & skill we could very much use and would slot right into an established lineup and improve it.

Anyway, can't see Corrie on the 2011 list.

No chance in hell would Richmond trade Deledio. At least, not for anything Collingwood would be willing to give up.

Matthews played him 20 times out of a possible 22 in 2008. It was Voss that didn't want him.

Not Sure about Josh Thomas or Goldsack but Blight hurt his Elbow the game before and I heard it was sore so they did not risk him

Agreed. Remember Medders was called "steak knives" before he came and in 2 seasons became AA. Some hits and some misses ... worth the shot for the pick.

Corrie and Cook will be on the plate at the end of the year for sure.

Re:Goldsack. I saw him at the game on Saturday in the huddle dressed in normal clothes. I thought at the time he may have been listed as emergency for North match maybe?

Nah goldy wasn't an emergency, he must have had a slight injury or illness.

He's had a tough year Goldy, getting a bout of menangitis just as the season started, and now he seems to have had another setback.

Still important to our overall list, as we will get injuries, it is inevitable, and we will need all the depth we can muster.

Yeah we can't get rid of the SACK. Although he may request a trade if he can't break into the seniors as he would be able to get into other backlines as he is a good player. Rus won't play another AFL game if he keeps playing in the backlline.

Shame about Rus, gee his body just won't allow him to string some games together. I guess it's only a small injury but it just seems like one thing after another with him. Time might well be running out for him.

Injury list is looking very good though, no real long term injuries and Dick looks likely to return which is great news. Hopefully he sets the VFL alight, he is an exciting prospect.

I heard Mathews sum him up in a 2009 pre season game and concluded from there he didn't rate him and had a say in his exit. He said something to the effect that his skills and attack on the ball weren't up to it. You would think Mathews would have been consulted. Voss would obvioulsy have had a big say. Either way he couldn't make it in an inferior side that doesn't have Freo Syndrome.

Not by choice but that shouldn't preclude us trying to entice him over from a wasted career.
