Surprise surprise on freemans hamstring not being too bad. They did and said the same thing last year. Put him in ice for a Crack at it next year. Work well once let's do it again!

In fairness, Freeman was perfectly fit to play early this year. His hamstring had healed, it was issues with scar tissue which needed surgery to clear. Not sure what the complications were after his surgery.

Honestly, we've heard everything there is to hear from people bitching and moaning about Freeman's hamstring. Unless you can add something constructive, just drop it. Believe it or not, the club don't actually want their top draft picks to be sidelined for the first two years of their career.

I know, it's a conspiracy aye? :$

Injury update has just come through, and it's as positive as we could hope for under the circumstances.

Goldsack is being put in for surgery to get his knee tendinitis fixed. Won't play again this year.

Abbott, Broomhead and Ramsay are all doing well, but won't play again this year. Will be fit to start preseason on time.

Freeman's hamstring is not too bad, but the club has decided to put him in cotton wool again for the year, so won't take part in VFL finals.

Gault should play this week.

And that's all folks! The injury list is actually looking really good for this time of year. Barring some sort of disaster* in the last two rounds, our whole squad should be able to get a full preseason under their belts heading in to 2016, which will be massive given our injury woes of the past few years.

*fingers crossed, touch wood etc...
And
Glad you posted this. It highlights the fact that despite what many posters seem to think, the club doesn't deliberately try to pull the wool over our eyes. If Nate genuinely thought he was two weeks away back against Box Hill, then the logical conclusion is that he had a setback, and the club reported that setback to the supporters accordingly.

The usual suspects will ignore that though, because clearly it's all a conspiracy against the supporters because we can't handle the truth... or something....
And we still get smashed every week

If freeman doesn't get on the park in the first half on next season it will turn out to be a shocking waste of a pick. Player has attributes that can make him a star, but body looks worrying

Just frustrating the mismanagement of him last year and the crap we were feed from the club all last year. Even this years apparent 1-2 weeks post clean out surgery has turned to 2-3 months. I/we have every right to be frustrated by the clubs handling of our early draft pick and lack of true information from within.

And

And we still get smashed every week
We have a raft of players under 50 games of experience. Patience, results will come soon enough.

Also, 'smashed' is an exaggeration. We've lost by under two goals to 3 of the top 4 teams. Converting those narrow losses to wins will come with that extra experience our kids are getting this year.

We're all frustrated by it. But bitching about it on a forum as if the club is somehow going against medical advice won't change anything.

All we can do is hope he has a good preseason and hope the worst is behind him.

Detail this mismanagement

Well said
Exactly

Detail this mismanagement
He was due to play his first game mid last year after 3 months out. Like many players last year he couldn't even get through the final training session. He was assessed as a 3-4 week injury at the start. How can the fitness department get it so wrong from start? To me it shows they didn't know. Davoren comes out at the end of the year saying it's the worste hamstring he had seen. So tell me how we expected to play 3-4 weeks later. When a player rips a hamstring of the bone, clubs should know straight away. I can point to what i believe to be mismanagement of his recovery but i can't give examples of what they are doing well. 5 games(all injury affected) in 2 years is not good management.

Those are not the medical details, the rehab schedule, genetic factors or running technique like Rioli, the surgeons report etc..

How can you possibly say mismanagement when you have absolutely no idea of what happened?

Do you mean Shaz? I think Freeman is a vic boy. Correct me if I'm wrong though!
No I mean freeman. He hasn't signed yet. He's got 9 other clubs he can go home too!

Do you reckon there's one silly enough to give us a first round pick for his carcass? :(

The way it was said, it sounded as if they could probably play him, but have decided to just reload for next year.

Just like last year!
Maybe you should write a letter to the club detailing how they're doing it wrong in your expert opinion, backed up by your extensive medical qualifications.

Interesting, wow, they've done all this just to keep you in the dark.
That's some stretch, but fair enough if that's what you believe.

Well said.
If only the club would understand the expert knowledge available to them here on big footy.
That's some conspiracy theory being mounted.

There's no conspiracy. It's just a club who have struggled to get a young guy back on the park after almost 2 seasons and spun us shit along the way.

Not sure on the club 'spinning shit'. They want him back playing...but just when he's on the verge (& they ramp up his training load), he pulls up sore...so they pull back his load & give him more time.
He seems to be a particular case that requires more time.
If they rush him back...he will more than likely sustain more damage & finish up with a shorter footy lifespan.
Bucks had similar problems towards the end of his career...perhaps if he was managed better in his younger years, he may have played a few more seasons...he was certainly good enough & fit enough...bloody hamstrings.

So it's the PR that's been mismanaged, not the medical treatment.
