Melbourne ...HELLO i mean how easy?
alright this is all the draft news from demon head quarters

Melbourne Football Club has completed player
trade negotiations today.

Bill Guest, Director of Football, today said
"After an intense week of
discussions, the Melbourne Football Club has
strengthened its current
playing list without sacrificing early draft
choices.

"At the commencement of the trading period we had
draft choices 9, 26 and
41, and Jeff Farmer leaving the Club."

"By the end of the week we have secured the
services of three established
footballers, Clint Bizzell, Peter Vardy and Craig
Ellis and upgraded our
draft selections to 9, 25, 26 and 56", Guest
said.

In a convoluted arrangement involving the
exchange of draft picks and
players from several other clubs, Melbourne
Football Club has effectively
negotiated trades for -
* Bizzell, Vardy and selection 25 for Farmer and
Brent Grgic, and
* Ellis for Troy Simmonds.

Net Result of Trades:
IN: OUT:

Bizzell Farmer
Vardy Grgic
Ellis Simmonds
Selection 26 Selection 41
Selection 56

MFC Selections at National Draft:
9
25
26
56

Craig Ellis has played 107 games as a key
defender, playing in all rounds of
the 2001 season. He will bolster the defensive
ranks, depleted with the
mid-season retirement of Anthony Ingerson.

Clint Bizzell has played 74 games, including 21
in season 2001. He is
capable of playing in attack or defense and is
highly regarded for his
competitiveness.

Peter Vardy has played mostly as a small forward
for Adelaide, and had
terrific seasons in 1998 and 2000. He has played
96 games, including 16 in
season 2001, and has kicked 150 goals.

I think we have done very well, Not only have we recruited some good players but we have a good number of draft picks as well.

ov course famer is important, but he made the choice to leave - there was nothing that we could do. in think that based on the cercomstances (SP?) we did VERY well. and hey, i might even learn to like this ellis boy - IF he does good things for the dees. as for both bizzle and vardy - i was happy to get them since the day the rumer broke out. i like the both of them, and should be good for us dees! i'm happy, and i hope this good start carries out for the rest of the season!

GO DEES!!!
