Worthy read about Fremantle and a few other clubs convincing him to go into the draft and not sign with the Gold Coast who wanted him to sit out and let them sign him...

Comment from his coach

"He is a Jared Brennan/Darryl White type of player," McLean said.
"Troy is just one of those players blessed with great natural talent."

Judging from some photos he looks reasonably tall and is still 17... One of the very late bloomers who has hit the radars of a few clubs.

Yeah this was posted in one of the draft/contract/thingy threads I think.

Watch out or Lachy's going to hit you with a 'search function n00b'

i'm all for drafting this guy, but isn't it a bit hypocritical of the club to push out farmer then make a push for this bloke who's ALREADY done jail time at age 17???

You can cut a kid a bit of leeway at 16/17 though. Farmer was still doing dumb shit as a 30yo.

And from the sounds of it Taylor realised he was heading down the wrong path and took steps to rectify it, which is a good sign.

Give him a chance. Everyone makes mistakes. See how he does with psych test.... If he really honestly wants to be an AFL player than give the lad a chance....

as i said, i'm all for drafting this guy. my opinion is that if you play good footy on the field, it doesn't matter what you do off it. my point was that we shouldn't have gotten rid of farmer for his misdemeanours, especially since we're considering drafting taylor. this guy has already got up to more mischief than farmer ever did, i don't think jeff was ever convicted of a robbery or did jail time as the article says. if the club is taking a 'hard line' against off field shenanigans then this guy should not even be on our radar.
