David Armitage/Jarryn Geary - 10:36 mins

There were a few interesting results in terms of possible Carlton draftees.

Firstly Brent Renouf did really well. he was well in the top ten for both the standing vertical leap and 3km time trial. The latter is very impressing for a ruckman and he comfortably beat Luenberger. He also measured 2m in height and weighed about 93Kg. His handspan was third biggest as well which indicates that he will grow. I think these results could possibly get him over the line in terms of our drafting.

Next, Nathan Brown also had some very interesting results. Many people on this board have been saying he's slow but he ranked third in the 20m sprint (2.91s). He was also sixth in the repeat sprints (25.07). Definately doesn't sound slow does he?

Other prospects who did very well include Armitage and Djerrkura.

After watching the players play and there recent results I've come to a decision as to who I think we should pick in the early rounds of the draft.

Pick 1 - Gibbs
Pick 17- Artimage
Pick 19 - Renouf
Pick 24 - (assuming we get it from Hawthorn) - Nathan Brown
Pick 35 - Nathan Djerrkura

What are your thoughts?

If Brown is a full back sounds good to me.

So is Brown's football good enough?

From what I've heard he's always been ranked to go in the top 30 there has just been concerns about his speed and it doesn't appear to be an issue anymore. He was the All Australian fullback and has a very big frame which suggests he will be able to handle the opsition at AFL level. In the TAC cup he has averaged around 12 possesions and four maks a game. He is not such a big possesion winner but is good at holding off his opponent. His kicking effectiveness is very impressive and is around 85% which is pretty good for someone his age and we need someone who doesn't make mistakes around the oppositions goal. All round he appears to be a good prospect that could deinately suceed at AFL level.

Perfect, i actually feel proud to have responded to your idea:thumbsu: :thumbsu: :)
ps. I'm not taking the piss, this is perfect but i like the sound of Jesse white, he was in it last year and carlton need some heavy weights

Nathan brown sounds as though he would be the best of the key position backman in this years draft. Also his size suggests that he can play on the power forwards such as hall, brown etc. compared to thornton who is undersized

Correct. He was All Australian Centre half forward.

Injuries and player management completely ruined his career.

Boo.........hoo..........

Any half decent player would have made it count wherever he started.......yes he had injuries, but so has every guy out there.
Soft excuses for a guy who ultimately wasn't up to it. Let it go.

He was AA CHF. We threw him into the wolves, down in the backline. Completely ruined his confidence.

Has had a horrid run with injuries. Definitely haven't helped one bit.

If Livo had stayed at CHF, he could have made it. But he is no hope now.

Thankfully we have recruited a bigger, better version, who we will keep at CHF: Josh Kennedy. Just don't move him down into defence

I know what you're saying, and I agree that it wrecked him. I just think champions adapt (like big Red).
He had been thrown forward at times and still didn't do loads. I just think that guys play well and force the coach to move them into better possies....demand respect...Livo was shot and battled hard, but in the end sat in the corner shiverring with images of big Sav blurring across his mind.......pity, but not sure he would have cut it at CHF either.

We will never know whether or not he would have made it. I reckon he would have-he was the standout tall forward that year and was rated as the 4th best player in the draft-that's why it isn't a blunder as such.

Livo was only tried forward for a VERY limited amount of time...after his confidence had been ruined completely after being constantly smashed down back.

Two second round picks or a first and second round pick for Tbird and it will be a sweet draft.

Picks 15 and 24 would be gold if we could pull if off and hopefully get us O'Brien and Renouf. I haven't seen them play but O'Brien's pace and Renouf's height (200 cms) are encouraging and a perfect fit for this list. :thumbsu:

Picks 1, 15, 17, 19, 24, 35, 51 is hot.

It's not like people where saying Nathan Brown was a hack before these results. The game style of Under 18's makes it difficult to judge things such as speed and the quality of their kicking because it's played in a much more contested, sloppy, style.

I'm glad my love of Nathan Djerrkura has once again been reaffirmed. He and Joseph Anderson are going to be guns.

Groater said:
Nathan Djerrkura seems to be a very balanced player by all reports, could be the steal of the draft.
Yes a top player very quick and has lots of class just the player we need
