Listening to the ABC Pre-Game discussions yesterday David Parkin commented that no Premiership Winning Team since 1992 had less than ten 100 game players in their side at the time. Makes you wonder where the term "Baby Bombers" came from re Essendon's Premiership???

I found this surprising but given Parko is not the type of bloke likely to state that unless he had researched it, it would appear history dictates we are probably a way off our next flag, especially if it's a given Macca and Birdman will retire at years end. Also some speculation that Doughty may call it quits too, concerns over Stevens 2010 form going forward, and the possibility that one of Bock or Thommo may be on GC's radar could see our "cupboard" fairly bare of 100+ gamers!!

Leaves only on current games played...

Rutten - 138
Reilly - 125
Van Berlo - 106
Johncock - 175

???? re future at AFC..
Bock - 109 - GC???
Thommo - 166 - GC??
Stevens - 132 - 2010 Form??
Doughty - 178 - 2010 Form??

Highly Unlikely..
McLeod - 339
Burton - 177

Do we need to look at securing some "experienced" 100+ gamers to complement our raft youngsters???

That's flat out wrong.

The 1997 premiers had 5 centurions (Bickley, Smart, Jarman, Jammo, Hart). The 1998 premiers had 8.

(The "Baby Bombers" of 1993 had 7).

In a lot of ways, they are the exceptions that prove the rule - in the last decade, the least number of centurions was Hawthorn 2008 with 9 (plus Osborne in game 99).
