The novel 'The Slap' was originally called 'The Roundhouse Kick to the Head' until author Christos Tsiolkas was persuaded by his editor to change both the title & plotline.

The total amount of fuel used to power all the Formula 1 cars for year (24-26 I think), that is Jan 1 to Dec 31, not just every car, every lap of every race, but including every car of every lap of every race and most possible laps allowed in all practice and qualifying sessions on race weekends and all the practising/testing away from the race weekend (which accounts for 85-95% of total kms a F1 car covers), will only be just enough to get a jumbo jet leaving Melbourne to reach Jakarta.

There's 5000 kilometres between Melbourne and Jakarta, which seats over 300 people and lets say the weight of 50 people in luggage. That's 350*5000 = 1.75 million man-kilometres per flight.

F1 cars only carry the weight of 1 person. Not sure how much the 24 people drive per year but would they exceed 70,000 kms each on the road (i.e. 1.75million/24)?

According to Google, a 747 consumes 12 litres / kilometre, whereas a F1 car consumes 0.75 litres / km.

Of course the 747 carries 350 people to the F1's 1, so consumption is:
747: 0.034 litres / km / person
F1: 0.75 litres / km / person

So, the 747 is about 20 times more efficient.

Going by the 2011 schedule, there are 19 F1 races.
Average F1 race length is about 305km (from wikipedia) in total for the race
305km*24racers*19 races=139,080km
This accounts for 5-15% of total, let's say10%
Hence total distance covered= 1,390,800km

I don't know if you're having a crack at me, my post, or just pointing out a discrepancy. I was listening to a podcast interview of a guy named Patrick Head, who is the co-founder of the Williams GP team. In amidst of all the talk about climate change (amongst other topics talked about), where motorsport can be criticised, particularly by people who don't enjoy it (You're one, perhaps?). He acknowledged the effect of man-made pollution and that something ought to be done about it, but dismissed the notion of motorsport contributing to any significant level as motorsport is easy to pick on and the total amount of fuel used for a year would barely be enough to get a jumbo across the Atlantic (which, as you know, or will find out, is a similar distance from Melbourne to Jakarta). So please, leave me alone.

Why are people so sensitive these days?

I was merely interested by what you posted and decided to look at it further.

Excluding the zero, the 9 digits on a phone appear in this order:

123
456
789

... and the 9 digits on a calculator (or on the right hand side of your computer keyboard) appear like this:

789
456
123

And nobody has ever known why, or been able to explain why they are different.

The AM Radio stations all add up to 18 when you add up the digits of the frequency:

774 (7+7+4 = 18)
1026 (10+2+6 = 18)
927 (9+2+7 = 18)
1377 (1+3+7+7 = 18)
1278 (1+2+7+8 = 18)
693 (6+9+3 = 18)
1503, which was the old 3AK (15+0+3 = 18)
1116 (11+1+6 = 18)

Selective adding - either use the 10s or use singles, not which way will suit your argument. Anyway, all frequencies are a multiple of 9.

Did you know the book 'War and Peace' was originally called "War, what is it good for?" until his wife persuaded him to change it?

That line is out of a movie, or TV show.... But just cant remember which one off the top of my head.

I am not going to think of it non stop till I know where abouts I know it from. I will probably lose sleep over it too.

Thank you, savagelunchbox.
