burton & pick 15 for flog disappointment wingard and spend the last 3 years in the bottom 4-6. sydney get franklin for free, made 2 grand finals, rebuilt and are making a good charge again. Franklin likely to play on and keep playing decent footy.

Reckon Hawthorn didn't use his strengths early on in his iteration at the Hawks. He was a seriously dangerous small forward who could mark and crumb, pretty much the total package. But they threw him into the midfield or had him play high half forward or even at times off half back, a place where many clubs would be more comfortable seeing him. He's had an impressive career and he's a long way from finished as well, plenty of time left. Just reckon he'd have provided more value to the Hawks as a goalkicking dangerman than getting possies on and around the wings and having less talented players as forwards.

His best footy at Hawthorn has been as a genuine mid with occasional turns at half forward. When he has played deeper he has struggled to make an impact

Watching this absolute turnip carry on today got me thinking.

This bloke was supposed to be a star. Had a couple of ok years at Port, moved to the Hawks to suck up the Vic limelight and has done precisely zippo.

Milking a free kick that had already been paid, then popping up and playing to the crowd on the way to kicking a goal in a loss for a 4-8 team is the encapsulation of this bloke's career.

Hawks would do well to piss him off from the club. He's not going to be part of their next flag and they don't need his toxic pretty boy act infecting their promising youth.

You're a Sydney fan. Can you not think of a fwd/mid currently playing for Sydney who has had a far more disappointing career?

It’s strange that a club with such a good recent history of getting the absolute max out of guys from other clubs hasn’t managed to get much out of Chad.

He’s had injuries, sure, but he’s half the player he was in his AA seasons at Port.

Tbh though O’Meara has been a bigger disappointment when comparing his junior profile and first couple of seasons at the Gold Coast. Should have developed into one of the competitions best.

Was also named in the Champion Data teams of the season in the last two seasons.
