The improvement in his ball use in the past 18 months has been phenomenal. He used to float the ball a bit when kicking it through the middle of the ground, now he's kicking it a lot lower and flatter.
It's not often a 25 year old starting mid improves that much by foot.

It's not his fault he works harder than anyone to get the footy. If it was so easy then every player could do what he does. Mind you he's also 13th in the league in contested possessions so he is a very balanced inside/outside player.

I reckon he's moved from overrated a few years ago based on disposals but without damaging ball use to now underrated because his ball use has improved and the disposals aren't dropping away.

I would've had him outside the top 15 mids but now he seems rightly in the top 10 and close to top 5.

Whether he's better than Bont or Libba is another question.

I stopped reading the OP here.
Hilarious that people still think he plays predominantly outside. Just advertises the fact they have nfi what they're talking about and have not watched him play at all.
He plays predominantly inside, and his ability to extract with amazing hands is still there. This year however, his kicking has improved significantly where he is extremely damaging when he gets it on the outside now. For years I had lamented his ball use by foot, it was the only thing holding him back. Too often he's kick floaters or scrubbers that would give the oppo a look-in. This year he is perfectly weighting the ball to the advantage of our forwards. On top of that, he has to be one of the most consistent players in the league. Just rarely has a down game at all. With his development this year, he's now comfortably in the top echelon of mids in the league. Still underrated IMO, this thread shows that.

I'd go one step further and say that no one should care what anyone says on a footy forum full stop.

I've always found people getting defensive about other people's opinions on sport to be completely baffling.
