Don't think it's rigged but strongly feel Umpires have preferred players and teams. The 'best players' are often given far more leeway whereas the 'bad boys' rarely can buy a free kick.

The lack of full time umpires and the frequent rules changes has turned so many contests into a 'vibe check' than hard lined rules.

This to a certain degree, Dusty was one of the best players, but umps used to pay holding the ball anytime he got tackled.

It's only a tough game to umpire because they change several rules on a yearly basis and they change the interpretation of the rules weekly or at least fortnightly.
You want consistency, give the umpires something consistent to work with.
I don't normally comment on umpiring (too many on here who whinge every week that their arguments have become redundant), but last night was as bad as I have seen it in my lifetime. No disrespect, but country footy league umpires would have done better and saying that they actually missed a few that we could and should have been pinged for.

I think the AFL has made the sport to difficult to umpire.

Even if they become professionals there still be no games that will be considered excellent umpiring.

All we can hope for is consistency and fair for both teams.

I can accept if it’s consistently bad, consistently average or consistently good.

I don’t get that I sit 5 rows from the fence on the wing I can see the free kicks but yet umpire is 1 metre away and does not pay them

we were getting shafted during our flags too, but were just too damn good.

I've only been to one game since the 2019 grand final and only because I got a seat in a corporate box and was lured by free alcohol and plenty of it.
I have no desire to monetarily support a woke and corrupt organisation such as the AFL - a law unto their own with zero ethics, morals or principles and continually invents outcomes.

Umpires can’t play every technical free kick, they be blowing the whistle every second.

Australian Football has always been to give a bit of leeway to keep the game flowing.

As long as it’s consistent and fair for both sides, then I’m fine with it.
