Wrt voting rights I have a similar opinion to macca 23 . I'm not a fan of being able to vote for every position but certainly for the majority of members with ovelapping terms. Adds the ability to hand pick some key positions, gives members a say but the overlapping terms also means that you remove the chance of the board being thrown out at every election and thus add stability. However IMO most board members need to hold member elected positions.

There'd still be haters, based on the ****-ups of the SMA deal, Rendell-gate, the reserves model, our falling crowds, his disrespect of the supporters/agitators, but he wouldn't be getting a belting about Tippett-gate. Begrudgingly I agree but the utter lack of transparency (although, the SMA was not set up with 'being transparent to me' as one of the founding principles) isn't making me think it's a good deal.

I'd be very concerned if it was transparent. It's a business deal, after all.

What is confusing to me is that nobody seems to be willing to say either way. The media has been happy to attack the deal, but nobody at either club, the SMA, or the AFL seems to have much to say about it, other than to indicate that they're not particularly concerned. Surely if we were getting considerably less than expected, both Port and Crows would have something to say, even if it was just that they were disappointed and were investigating it. Surely the AFL would be horrified that the stadium they pushed for is delivering weaker profit margins than the previous one. You'd think those parties would be jumping up and down if the deal was as bad as it's been made out to be. And on the other hand, if the SMA were able to gain some positive press by pointing out that the stadium will actually deliver better profits once some initial costs are covered, wouldn't they be leaping to do so?

You're right it could all be just teething problems and it will all settle down and be as expected (more or less). this could be just the expected early blip

Except if that's the case why is everyone so alarmed, why is the AFL flying over to check. No one involved is relaxed about this, so there is no reason for anyone else to be

In my opinion the same and it's not just one thing either. Yes the Tippet gate was the straw that broke the camels back and gave his required departure national headlines but it's a collection of things for me.

If you let your mind wonder back 10 years, the landscape of the Adelaide Crows membership is very similar to it's today. We roughly had between 45,000 and 50,000 members. This has been a consistent thing with the Adelaide Crows since about 1993 and we have rested on those figures. Where has the growth come from? why haven't we developed a national strategy to attract members or a national presence?

The strategy we are trying to implement has us stuck in the walls of the city square of Adelaide, figuratively speaking of course. Why haven't we tried to launch a national marketing campaign to attract expat South Australian who would consider the Crows their team. Research shows South Australia will lose as many as 2000 residents each year. If we use those figures very loosely and say 60% could potentially be Adelaide Crows fans, that 1200 potential memberships we have to sell to. But it's more than that, because if the Crows develop their brand into a national brand - we could reach out to a how new demographics. we haven't done that.

Collingwood, Hawthorn and Sydney have become national brands in the AFL. However, I feel we allow this stigma of coming from Adelaide' effect us into believing we can not do that and that attitude is mirrored by the CEO and the Adelaide Crows board.

Yes the newly developed Adelaide Oval has given the Adelaide Crows membership base a massive injection this years but that would have occurred anyway - whom ever the CEO was would have received this injection of memberships.

We need a CEO who has a 10 year goal and this goal is to make the Adelaide Crows into a recognizable national brand and have a bench mark of 75,000 members by 2024. I don't think Steven Trigg has that ability in his.

His skills are directed towards middle management - not as a CEO of a multi-million dollar sporting organization. Sadly, that's the psychographic of Adelaide. We only ever see out self as a middle of the road team and a middle of the road club.

I watched Footy Classified, and this was one of the lowest moments in Dimwitriou's career IMO.

Gary Lyons pointed out to Dimwit that at the time and before Rendell was sacked that Dimwit had spoken quite vehemently against Rendell and had said that there was no place in AFL footy for him and the he should be looking for another job. Although Gary tried to pin him down on this point Dimwit kept avoiding it and kept reverting back to it being Adelaide's decision to sack Rendell not his. Lyons kept trying to compare this lack of compassion for Rendell by Dimwit to his much more charitable approach to Eddie McGuire and his openly racist remarks.

Dimwit kept wriggling and squirming away from this fact finally said that he found out later that there were other things for which Rendell had been sacked apart from the alleged "racist"comments.

Quite frankly I've never had an overly high opinion of this bombastic creature, and after tonight all I can say is "good riddance to bad rubbish". If the leader of the AFL can't be honest and face up to the unfairness of his attitudes and actual comments, then IMO there is no place for him in the game.

Rendell wasn't a yes man. Trigg had to get rid of him. Trigg also knew that Rendelll was a huge risk to spill his guts on the Tippett deal.

I still remember what happened in the NBA early this season. Adam Silver became the new Commissioner of The NBA at February this season. Silvers 1st act was to ban racism in the Sport. Donald Sterling who was the LA clippers boss, Made racist comments towards African Americans and was fined 2.5 million and Banned from the NBA for life.

Again, Eddie Maguire got of cheaply.

I think it is way to early to call on the SMA deal.

The clubs aren't going to reap huge profits per game regardless of the crowd size because they sold all of their seats in membership packages.

Getting +40000 crowds weekly though should indicate increased members and increased member spending. The proof will be in the end of year financial report, any thing based on game day is just speculation at the moment.

The concern regarding the increased costs will be sorted out either by our admin (lolz) or by Ports or the AFL.

If for some reason the profits aren't there for the clubs then I'm confident that there will be enough of an uproar for the deal to get changed.

KT has been brilliant so far. Absolutely no doubt about that as IMO he has been the one that realigned the ducks on the wall, however he will be judged on the AO deal. That is far more important than anything else he may have done so far.
Sponsors come and go, teams go through highs and lows but the AO deal will either make or break our teams and Port in particular.
For all if you lot that want to see Port disappear, pray for a shit AO deal. The fact that the Crows will never end up being a proper club with a bad deal wouldn't worry those people, and unfortunately there are a few around.

I think it goes without saying that he'd be viewed a lot differently because he wouldn't have participated in cheating, draft tampering and severe short and long term damage to the football club. The high majority of my view when it comes to Trigg is based around this.

Watched Footy Classified Monday night 2nd June & paid particular attention to Vlad's (Demetriou's) interview. Among a whole range of things, Gary Lyon really put Vlad to the sword over the Trigg-Rendell affair, where Lyon quoted some previous comments Vlad made -
"Matt Rendell should start looking for another job."
Or words very similar to that. Then Vlad went on to say that Rendell's dismissal was entirely between Rendell & The Adelaide Football Club, where he had nothing to do with the decision that was made. Christ Almighty! Has Vlad's brain taken a leave of absence? How on God's green Earth do you expect anyone to believe that?!?
Any decent CEO would've immediately got on the phone to the top Silks in the land, who would've then slapped Vlad with a writ to appear in Court. Instead, we get served up a plate of public relations garbage, where arguably the finest Recruiter in the Land clears out his desk & heads to Collingwood.
It's this exact sort of garbage why Trigg is nothing but a self-serving stain on this club....who needs to be made a distant memory.
Unlike many people, I despise racism....particularly closet racists....hearing them make the most vile comments in private, away from public scrutiny....particularly about Aborigines & Muslims & people from the Middle East. These Redneck idiots make me sick.
But all those months ago, I watched the Rendell interview & was absolutely moved by what I heard him say. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but (in my opinion) everything Matt Rendell has ever said has been with the best intentions. Whatever offence he caused was (in my opinion) taken out of context, where both Vlad & Trigg have publicly shattered that man....AND his family.
This incident is one of many where Trigg has proven....etched in stone....that he is a stain on this club....and needs to be shown the door. At the moment, the players are working their guts out....not for the club that we love....but for public reputation & financial wealth of our CEO & Senior Hierarchy.
We need a change at this club, and from a long time ago.
