Jack Grimes potential AA?

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Just for thought, nothing too serious and not trying to get too ahead of myself but...

Grimes averages season 2010
23.8 disposals
6.8 marks
2.5 tackles

those are very good numbers for a half back flanker... maybe I am getting a little ahead of myself but then again, maybe im not? Can he be All-Australian if he keeps this form up?

Thoughts?

Re: Jack Grimes potential AA???

He is in good form but he gets no hype from the media except a little pat on the back as if thats what was expected.

If he keeps up this form all year with a couple of real stand out games he might get onto the extended AA list.

cant think of that many players in his position playing better than him. malceski, hodge.. maybe gilbee.. he is having an outstanding season,

just because no jackwatts-style articles are in the paper (i have a close friend at a certain 'big' paper, and heard a whisper that one of those lame feature articles soon.) doesnt mean he is not hyped. if you watch any melbourne games you would know that when he does something well the commentators call with 'a star' or 'a super young player'.

i think on SEN kevin bartlett even said he was close to AA form.

soo.. umm..

Re: Jack Grimes potential AA???

soo.. umm..

Well if KB said he's in AA form no need to discuss it any further..... He gets everything else right.

Maybe they should put him on the rules committee he'll fix everything.

Do they talk about him like they did about Rich last year? No they don't because he was a pick 14 & even if he is in better form it still doesn't attract the same sort of interest that a top 10 pick does.

Yeah they do comment on what a good player he will become & that his form is good but there is just not the same hype.

If you looked at Rich last year he was being talked about as if he had already won 3 Brownlows & his urine was a cure for cancer & the constant talk about how anyone could have taken Watts, Nicnat or Hill over him.

Re: Jack Grimes potential AA???

For sure. I'm just spewing that I didn't pick him for my DT last week when I considered it! He was at a low price too :(

Re: Jack Grimes potential AA???

Not sure Jack is damaging enough with his kicking or takes tough enough opponents week in week out to be AA. Certainly rates amognst our most consistent and hard working players.

he picks the AA team.. and he IS already on the rules committee..

you are an ignorant douche Crimson Azure.. oh and pretentious

Re: Jack Grimes potential AA???

He's turning the ball over too often to be AA but he has to be high up in the B&F that's for sure. He is a gun.

And your a West Coast or Brisbane supporter who just likes to troll. Bit touchy about the Rich comments hey?

:thumbsu:

He must have no chance of selection then as they are not allowed to discuss AA selection from memory.

Re: Jack Grimes potential AA???

If he maintains his form, definately.

He picks himself as an AA player atm.

So long as he maintains it, should make it
easily, would be leading our BnF ahead of Jmac.

Clearly you wouldn't post on another board with that alias... we're not that stupid, and neither are you... c'mon.

Re: Jack Grimes potential AA???

um dcrock he/she does seem either ignorant or worse, blatant trolling. Seriously ANY supporter that wants a player to fail from their team from a friend of a friend who hasnt played more than 5 games is a joke.

BS you're full of BS

Ignorant yes, troll most likely, but not stupid enough to blow his trolling cover by talking about West Coke or the like. Give the man (?) some credit at least.

And definitely a joke.

B-wait for it-S.

Re: Jack Grimes potential AA???

Haha. BS there is no reason for anyone to want Watts to fail if he plays for their team. You are just an idiot, Hodge was exactly the same he went to Hawthorn and took a while to figure out that it wasn't just going to be handed to him on a plate he had to work for it and be very professional about it. And look where he is now, we need a very good tall forward and for us to suceed we need a tall forward so for you to want him to fail, STUPID.

Re: Jack Grimes potential AA???

Nah, Goddard and Hodge will take his spot.

Goddard could just about take every spot on the field except for ruck this year.

Don't under estimate his ability to also shut down an opponent, he has played two very good games on Didak over the past 2 years as an example. I am really suprised opposition coaches dnt put more effort into shutting down his run of half back. His kicking may not be long and damagin like a goddard, gram or gilbee, but he is a very effective kick over 30-40 metre range.

He's turning the ball over too often to be AA but he has to be high up in the B&F that's for sure. He is a gun.

I agree with this, he is turning the ball over a little bit more and appears that way becuase he normally never turns it over and the side hasn't been as good over the previous 3 weeks.

Re: Jack Grimes potential AA???

Grimes has been playing superbly. If he keeps up this form then he should be at least in the squad and very close to making the team. Unfortunately we're rarely on FTA tv so he's not in the public eye as much as Shaw, Goddard and Hodge.

Give me Grimes over Shaw any day of the week. Goddard and Hodge are both guns though but Goddad could be picked on the half forward line and there are at least 3 small defender positions available.

Re: Jack Grimes potential AA???

God I hope so...

I made a bet with a mate from work: $200 Jack Grimes will make the AA team before Trent Cotchin!

Seriously even if he doesn't make it this year, I've got it in the bag. It's a lot easier to crack the back line AA then the midfield AA.

I'm not sure about that. They often like to fill the half back flank spots with spare mids anyway.

If he didn't play for Richmond I'd consider putting my $200 on Cotchin, I'm a massive fan of his.

Re: Jack Grimes potential AA???

Yeesh. Let's not get ahead of ourselves - Jack is killing it at the moment, but we're 8 games into a season that we've won 3 of so far. As a general rule of thumb, teams that play well tend to have their players looked at more intensely for AA selection. He's gonna need at least 1 more full season of playing like he has for the beginning of his career before they even put him in the squad, let alone the team.

Having said that, I'd be rapt to be proven wrong.
