Mark Fine on the Footyology Podcast has said that Brisbane have offered Lonie a 3-year deal and that St.Kilda are unlikely to match. What is his current contract situation?

That's from a few weeks ago and was said to be incorrect in a Tom Morris piece. Unless Finey has some new information on this I don't think it is accurate.

Brisbane receive:
Jack Lonie, pick 41, (Savage Trade)
St Kilda receive: Pick 22, future 4th round

This values Lonie at pick 46. Brisbane can pick up a gun and recieve a brilliant kick in Lonie. St Kilda can pick up a gun this year and a great sevant next year.

If he is such a gun why you let him go ?

50%+ chance we delist Lonie. If not maximum 1 yr contract. He is uncontracted and there have been v few encouraging noises from the club.
Late pick or v speculative player swap at best.

I would have him at Melbourne, we need more depth in the forward line.

We have about 6 other players in our squad that are the same player as Lonie.
  1. ''Guns".
  2. Players that are the seventh best player in their position at their club.
1 and 2 are mutually exclusive.

Has some footy talent but he is too small to hold his ground or stick tackles, also lacks pace for a small forward. He's crafty though and he gets involved plenty so if he takes his opportunities (as he did late in the season) he can be handy. Happy to ship him off for a pick in the 40's though as I think his physical limitations will prevent him from ever being a consistently effective player

Or Brisbane can just give you pick 40 …. and keep pick 22.

You haven't offered him a new contract, won't be a pick in the 40s. Token 4th-5th rounder at best.

I don’t understand why he would try to join us, maybe he likes the mid game snacks our VFL team offers?
