Did anyone hear Jack on the run home tonight? Got in the car to hear Marco and the Ox commending him on how he handled a caller(Richmond supporter)?? But didn't replay it.

Nah it's not in there.

I heard it. Basically this guy was ropeable and rung up and said he thought Riewoldt was an absolute muppet for saying something in particular (can't actually remember what he was angry about, something cliche like 'We'll just look to next week' or something) and that he has been a Richmond supporter since the 50's and that the supporters deserve more respect. Riewoldt also had a rather cliche response saying he understands where he's coming from but the players try their best every week etc etc and that they can't do anything about the game now.

Can't really remember all of it but it went something like that.

What do you want him to do? Spend the week crying "woe is me" and indulging in self flagellation? We sucked last week, and as supporters we get to dwell on it. The players and club however have a game to win, and if they go into it still focusing on the errors on Saturday, we are doomed for failure.

Players have to accept their errors, learn from them, and move on.

Also I don't think people really know what they want here, and are just looking for another chance to whack the club:

- people say the club should just stay out of the media this week, but we had a thread "club gone to ground" pointing out the bashing we were getting for not getting into the media Monday.

- people bitch about Gale being too slow to answer too few questions live, and that he should have answered a series on questions in a more detailed prepared response. If he did this though, I bet dollars to donuts he would have been bashed about not being brave enough to face the members live.

- people bitch about sound bites Gale and March make which the media love to focus on and make their issue of the week. This week though people bitched that Gale's answers were spin because they were carefully crafted knowing that they would be heavy reported by the media.

- people bitch about the club not understanding our pain as supporters, but when they say they do and they feel the same it's pr spin and they should shut up.

If they all go into hiding and go quiet..they suck and they are ignoring it...if they acknowledge it, put it behind them and move on...they suck and they arent upset enough...what was that JFK said about pleasing some of the people some of the time?? The way I see it Jack will get a grilling from those tools but he is one of our more media savvy players and better equipped to deal with it. So long as he doesnt get drawn into anything stupid it might just put a lid on it and take some heat of the other 21 players who will avoid the public scrutiny. The old RFC would have hidden said nothing and waited for Tuesdays with Terry

They can't win no matter what they do. If they go on the show they get blasted saying they shouldn't go on the show. If they didn't go on the show they would cop it because the fans never get to hear from them/why don't they ever do TV like other players.

No matter what they do people are complaining.

I agree with everything you have said here, however at the end of the day, there is really only ONE way to stop supporters bitching, and really it's quite simple:

Win football matches.
