To date, James Frawley has had the better of Jack Riewoldt. In Jack's Coleman winning year, Frawley stopped him twice and was All Australian at the other end of the field. So Jack at his best, and as the best forward in the league that year, was beaten in both encounters by Frawley. Fact.

That's not to say Frawley is better, because he isn't necessarily, but he has the better of Jack thus far. Any team would kill to have either in their team, but if you had to choose one it would be down to whether your team needs an elite key forward or elite key defender. Both guns.

I don't consider 7 scoring shots, 18 disposals, 9 marks to be beaten. Jack clearly took him to the cleaners that day, and then the opposite happened on the return bout.

This "Frawley has the wood over Jack" business is a complete myth based on a few contests here and there over 2 seasons.

Riewoldt. Always take a great forward over a great defender

Also, I would rate Ben Reid as a better defender from the same draft.

Frawley is nearly twice the player Reid is in my opinion. Way better closing speed and much better body on body.

And Reid's much better at reading the play, marking and fifty metre plasses out of the fifty...

Not true. Frawley is better at least one of those things, and the other two they are close. Reid has had the luxury of playing in a dominant team, whilst Frawley won an AA selection in a poor side. If situations were reversed, Reid played for Melbourne and Frawley for Collingwood, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

In about 3 years time I don't think we will be anyway, as Frawley is set to become the premier KPD in the AFL by 2014.

I don't see how that affects one on one skills

We'll agree to disagree :)
