1) thats where he played today

2) does dusty have the tank yet for FT midfield (esp with the interchange cap)?

Regardless of the tank hes better rotating through midfield and resting forward..

Thats the prob, we don't have the luxury of mass rotations anymore. In the Carlton game (I think) we were down to just 6 left with most of the quarter left.

The cap is gunna be a bigger game changer than a lot of people think

Jack played most of the game up forward, but the delivery was crap and the stop / start nature of our gameplan suits defenders. The moment we play on and attack the corridor with Jack isolated in a one on one, then he will return to his best. Just clear the forward and treat Vickery as a decoy.

Dusty is great in bursts. Not sure a tank will be further developed - but he would be an "A grader" if he could.

I think the gameplan needs to be more attacking and faster. But then you look at Hawthorn and they all are elite kicks. Our delivery to Jack needs to improve.

Vickery Jack Griff
Madonna, Martin, Knights/Gordon/Lloyd/King

need to get back to applying good pressure in the F50 to lock the ball in so the midfield can set up behind play and lock it there.

is anyone showing the same lockdown work as King though? I remember in the past we kept bringing back Nahas in hope, and nothing ever changed. If Lloyd can add thsi to his bow, King will be switched pretty quick IMO

currently they are not at that's part of the problem I believe, we need some more variety and scoring power up forward while also adding more defensive pressure, I cant for the life of me believe just one defensive forward is enough, they all need to be defensively minded and apply pressure like king does.

madonna could do it, but hes gotta do his HBF apprenticeship. newman isnt the answer.

Dont ignore the defensive forward pressure though, its vital. In the GC game the ball was pinging straight out of our forward 50, against Carlton much less so.

If our mids are not running hard, the minute it rebounds its an open goal to the opposition, so locking the ball in is critical

Jack FF
Griff CHF
Vick 3rd Tall

EVERY START!

If Jack has a Frawley or Jamison on him and can't seem to get into the game he shifts and plays 3rd tall, Vickery moves to FF deep in the goal square, Jack gives him space to be isolated and more often then not Vickery can use his height to advantage. All this without compromising the amount of entries Jack gets, because Jack can make things happen with his good decision making and creative nous. It's no use giving it off to a King or Grigg at HF, where one can't mark the ball and it just bounces off his chest and the other is given time and space and bombs it long to who knows where. We need Knights, Gordon and Lloyd in the team. Maybe even McDonough if the coaching staff decide to come out of their hard focused mind and play him as a small/medium forward option who is creative and smart.
Knights plays the half-forward option well with his strong body, good kick, decision making and flexibility to play in the midfield as well, only problem is his health.
Gordon can play as a wing to replace Grigg and I want this to happen in the next 5 rounds or else i've lost all hope in the direction Damien is taking us, and I want him out for a better coach who can see the logical. Gordon with his speed and creativity should command that wing/forward spot as he's shown good form in the VFL, in terms of gathering the ball and kicking goals.
Lloyd showed us some good signs in the pre-season and at VFL seems to be going well, there were knocks on his fitness, but if he can show good intensity, poise and composure i'd back him in to play well.

I can understand why Damien might want to make Vickery the FF option. He's tall, strong, can take some marks and is a pretty good shot at goal. He also sees our reliance on Jack a bit too much, like how we relied on Richo. Boy, Richo was a spectacle. The thing is, is that Jack is our best forward and even if we want to distribute the ball to others Jack makes things happen, he's by far the best contested mark player in the team and after winning 2 Colemans you don't lose talent overnight. He also seems to be fit enough to lead. If I were made to be a decoy after winning 2 Colemans I would be pissed off.

If Jack make things happen, just give him the bloody ball! Jesus Christ Hardwick. If it ain't broke don't fix it. So paranoid that opposition coaches will try to create a new game plan every season to counter him. A game plan takes time solidify into a team's head.

Another thing. Martin in the guts does wonders. Conca no good anymore. Cotchin Martin combo = rape and death for opposition coach.

We only used 98 today

I reckon clubs are still getting the hang of it - first round both us and GC were massively under too, so I suspect it will be a bit of highs and lows until they get a bead on what is a good rotation arrangement for their team

Jack is ruined. Confidence and attitude been taken away by a hack of a coach wanting to destroy talents because he had little as a player but had "effort".

Now wants a team full of him. Recruiting hacks, playing guns in decoy positions. The Hardwick way.

Forget about Jack, Tiger fans. The best forward in my lifetime with Richo has departed. Thanks Mr Hardwick.

Visionary thread is visionary. While we're at it, can we move Delidio back to the HBL?

Oh please stop being so melodramatic FFS. If he was so ruined, how did he kick 4 in the second half when we(our mids) decided to RUN!!

Nah that would be his best position to benefit the team.. Won't happen

Our problem is our shit midfield. We keep putting in players who give it their all but have no class. Our balance is wrong and our midfield is lazy
