Watts has not even won a game off his own boot yet, taking his time, Hurley did it in his 10th game.

But, But, But Watts has twice kicked 3 goals in a game, that is right TWICE!
and on top of that he has had a astonishing 6 games where he has got bags of 2.
But he is closing in on Hurley:confused::confused::confused::confused:

LMFAO.

just had a look at the stats, Hurley kicked 27 goals in 2011, Watts 33 in his career , Butcher is catching you Watts.

What people dont understand is Hurley will take the competition by storm next year
And that he played his junior career in the back line and has already become a great forward

Essendon people are convinced Michael Hurley is the next Nick Riewoldt. I'm not so sure, but he will be a very good player either way. Watts will also be a very good player. Lets revisit this thread in 3 years.

Watts improved, but has a long way to go to be up there with Hurley. Will all depend on Jack's body and how strong he can get it.

nope not at all, Brown is who Hurley reminds me of.
Hurley has destroyed both Riewoldt's 1 on 1, that is how Hurley likes to play shoulder to shoulder.

Both his rising star noms in 09, & 2010 come against N Riewoldt.
His 2 brownlow votes for a 11 poss game come against J Riewoldt.

Why hasn't Essendon put much weight on to Hurley yet?

Essendon hasn't put much weight on anyone yet, to Thompson's chagrin.

It's why the fitness guy got the flick.

Both going to be great players for along time for both clubs, and they're both good mates.

On draft day Watts weighed 78kg, Melbourne said it would take 4-5 years to get to his target weight of 97-98kg. Today he is at 91kg so a couple if years to go.

Hurley on draft day weighed 91kg, today he weighs 92kg. Why hasn't Essendon put much weight on to Hurley yet? J.Brown is at 104kg, and after 3 years in the system Hurley should be atleast close to 100kg. I know he is naturally strong but would love to see him get a bit closer to J.Browns size.

He has, Hurley really noticed he needed to get more strength after the Collingwood game, when he had multiple defenders climbing all over him, found it very hard to get to contests and take the space he wanted, so really worked on it from their on, I know for a fact Hurley in a 8 week period put on 6kgs.
at the end of the season he was the biggest he has ever been.
will be pushing over 100kg in 2012.

You hope Hurley doesn't end up being a 5 x Best & Fairest, 4 X All Australian, MVP winner by 28 like Nick Riewoldt  Lol, if he has half those accolades, he will be a very good player.

Nope, rather Brown. maybe not all the individual accolades but 3x premiership player ........

Watts. There's nothing in it now and that's with Watts being a year younger and much less physically developed. He's has a complete skillset and is the better athlete. 5-10 KG more muscle and it'll be all over.

Funny you say that when hes only 3 cm taller and the same weight...
So they both arent fully developed..
Saying he has a complete skill set, wanna talk about complete skill set, how about playing your full junior career as full back as well as half your senior career there and still be a great forward :)

So add three kilos to the weight needed... then take into account the Hurley interview where he said he was up to 98kg's.

Then think Watts is 4 cm's taller than Hurley and weighs 7.5 kilos less than him.

Then think how are they anywhere near the same stage of physical development?

Hurley and Watts are both very skillful players.

One of your fellow Essendon supporters said he heard it in a Hurley interview.

3 cm's isn't much, but the rule is generally an extra kilo per centimetre for elite AFL players.

Brown was just in the right place at the right time. Have you actually had a look at Browns finals record? It's shit. Not only does Riewoldt perform a lot better during the regular season, but he also performs better in finals than Brown.

2 elite CHF of their time, both captains, both champions of their respective clubs, Brown 3 GF wins compared to Riewoldts 0 is the deciding factor for me.
Being a champion and not winning a premiership would leave a hollow feeling for the rest of your life. ala Ablett snr, Lockett.

So because Brown was at the right place at the right time, that makes him a better player than Riewoldt? Despite Riewoldt having a few more Best & Fairest awards, 2 more All Australians and an MVP that Brown doesn't  And despite Riewoldt having a better record in finals & home and away matches, you still prefer Brown because he was recruited into the "right" team

So because Cam Mooney has won a few flags, do you think he is better than Nick Riewoldt as well

Sorry, you didn't really answer my question. I said Riewoldt had clearly outperformed Brown throughout his career, and then proceeded to provide evidence to back up my claim. You reposnded with, "well Brown has 3 flags so he is better"

Yeh true, Reiwoldt has had a better career but on the other hand Id rather have Hurley be a triple premiership player
