Jack Watts vs Tyrone Vickery who will be the better player?

Vickery has shown more and has a definitive position, he can hold down the goal square on his own and can pinch-hit ruck.

Vicks for me

Vickery at the moment, can't say which will be better in the future.

In 4-5 years time, Vickery will be our ruckman anyway. I believe both will be star players of the game.

I do believe that Vickery is the better forward due to his over-head marking, athleticism and size. He also hits the scoreboard more often. Watts is still too under developed for my liking, give him a few more years.

I'm a big Vickery fan, but I would still take Watts ahead of him.

Watts just has more strings to his bow IMO; better footskills, all round athleticism, x-factor... he's a much more versatile player.

Vickery will be an excellent 'out of the goalsquare' type player; 12-14 touches and 2.5-3 goals per game... that's where his future is IMO; forget playing him as a full time ruck, he has too good an understanding of a forward role to be wasted there.

Watts will be a roaming CHF, in his peak I don't imagine he will be kicking to many more than 55 goals as a CHF but I envision him getting a fair bit more of the ball than a CHF would normally (averaging somewhere between 22-5 disposals a game).

That's just how I see it.

Richmond may well think Vickery has more potential as a first ruck/resting forward where he kicks 25-35 goals a year and averages 15-20 hitouts a game...

Watts may be considered more suited to playing a traditional CHF role, averaging 18-20 disposals per game and 2.5-3.5 goals per game.

Who knows?

What I believe is that both will become very good, and probably elite, players whatever their roles.

Pretty decent post, although I'd disagree on the athleticism and versatility.

Although those are some pretty high numbers, Carey-esque almost.

Personally I think Carey would have averaged low 20's and kicking around 85 goals a season in his peak if he was playing currently.

Absolute beast of a player.

Disposal trends have also gone up significantly.

Vickery will be a gun IMO; I rate him very high.

Watts has twice the athleticism that Vickery will ever have

Do Tigers fans see Vickery as staying a KPF?

IMO it would be a waste for him to spend anymore than 30% game time as a ruck or ruck the forward line.

No. He will be our CHF for a few more years, 3 at most. Once that spurt is finished, he will become our 1st ruckman and he will dominate there. However, another likely option is that in those 3 years, Andy Browne might come on, making Vicks our permanent CHF.
