Not because he did anything amazing or eye catching, but because he did the basics to help the team. It's not that he has never helped the team, but he seems to do it more often and it's very impressive

Shepherding, tackling, fantastic passing (loved the long left footed kick that he boomed cleared from the wing right into the hands of foley in the 4th quarter)

Best of all was when he had two players after him and the ball soared into the forward line he seemed to just drag his taggers away and let Vickery or Post go for the easy grab. He just seems to know when is the best time to go for it and when it is best to leave it.

So this is for Jack, still kicking many goals, but also knowing what is best for his team mates :thumbsu:

He must of been told not to go flying into every contest, don't recall him launching into a contest at all. He was shepherding more than contesting and it paid off almost every time. He has a great left foot, that 50m pass lace out in front of Houli against Freo and then again on Saturday night was oustanding. Is still kicking 3-4 each week and I'm expecting him to explode soon and kick 6-8!

100+ SC points from 9 possessions

Staggering eh? Nahas' ~80 after half-time was pretty impressive too and Newman must have had similar numbers. :thumbsu:

Lot to like about Jack's game on the wekend for the reason's you've outlined mcuzzy, got a good chuckle out of his Conca twitter episode too, if he's not deliberately funny he is accidentally. :D

Another thing about Jack how good is he on his left peg!!
There was a ripper on the weekend but I loved the one against freo off one step when he hit cotchin on the fly in the third when cotchin was steaming through centre half forward for a goal.

He's such a gun. Looked very good when he played up the ground Vs Essendon, as you say. Could still win the Coleman though, you never know.

so much to like about him. Even we completely out of marking form, he still has elite positioning and body work that guarantee him a couple of sausage rolls each week.

I think he is starting to have more confidence in Vickory taking one-on-one contested marks and is therefore not flying over his head all the time to take the speccie. It is probably no coincidence that as Riewoldt's goals have reduced, Vickery's have increased.

It doesn't matter if JR8 does not win the Coleman, it just shows that he is playing a team game and a very good one at it. It's enjoyable to see TV, Vickery and King scoring goals and JR8 jumping all over them.

He is playing for the team and has developed a team orientated mindset.

In saying so, if he can kick 4-5 goals a week yet still play a team game, that's good enough for me.

you know you have a star when he doesn't really fire and still kicks four.

you know you have a star when he doesn't really fire, and still kicks four and has a large number of assists and a team orientated efforts.

its funny, because at times he looked a bit "self restrained" thru the game. to the point of disinterested. i hope he's not gone to much the other way.
