Traded Jake Stringer [traded to Essendon]

29 year old injured ruckman for pick 9 and 23 year old Stringer? That makes no sense.
Clearly you didnt read what was quoted.

North trade: pick 4, pick 21 with either next year 2nd round pick or Goldstein
Dogs trade: pick 9 and stringer

He's under contract so we can play hard-ball at the trade table. I suspect we'd need overs to consider trading him.

Do you think the Dogs are super-keen to keep him, though? I just wonder if the door is ajar there, and they may be open to changing things up.

North should be aggressive with their pick and trade it down for St Kilda's 2 first rounders... then give us one of those and Goldy for Stringer. We'll throw in another player or a 2nd rounder in as a sweetener.

Essendon could jump in with our first pick. (11+ depending on finals).

Would not be relied upon to do it all at Essendon due to us having a forward line. He would also be able to push up into the middle for bursts.
String is talented yes, but our forward line is probably the only well functioning part of our team, Goals 2017: Daniher 60+, Hooker 40+, Fantasia 40+, Tippa 35+, Stewart 20+, Green 18.

I would be disappointed if we didn't use our first pick this year on either drafting or trading for a big bodied inside mid/general mid. It is glaringly obvious that the lack of midfield depth is our missing link.

Once the Dogs have announced Stringer on the table, it's hard to back-track and play hard-ball only for him to have to stay.

Someone will be particularly keen, if largely to be seen to be doing something. The Dogs probably know who that may be, already.

I don't think North have enough available picks to get him. I doubt the Doggies would accept Goldy and 21, which is the best we would do as we would want our first for either the Kelly trade or picking up a top player.

If Kelly stays or goes to Carlton, as many suspect, I'd imagine North throwing the kitchen sink at Stringer. Franchise player. Cap to burn and Stringer apparently loves coin.

North have been pretty happy with Higgins. Well Higgo ain't fit to clean Stringer's shoes. Stringer could be the much needed franchise player for North.

Forget a cooked Goldy and P21. North would stump P4 and be forever grateful they got such a gun so cheap. More talent than Bont IMO. Far less application at present but still a 40-50 goal a year fwd with our shit delivery, a few injuries, family shit and maybe a lazy attitude to date. Has a touch of the Stevie J's about him in terms of talent and attitude. But more explosive and in a bigger frame.

If he goes P4 is a steal for a 21 yr old AA. (Our youngest AA ever. More talent than AA legends like Johnno, West, etc).

No Dogs fan in their right mind wants to trade him. Personally hope we retain and he lifts his attitude from the kick up the arse.

I generally don't overrate our players. But Stringer is genuinely a generational talent. And it's not just potential - he's already made AA.

Absolutely no way he goes interstate with his 2 kids living here.

Also no way we would trade him for unders when he is contracted for next year. We would back ourselves in to change his mind
The club would need it's mind changed to keep him. It's not just Jake wanting out, the club wants him out.

Has family in Melbourne, but good try.

Lol Starting to lose count of nuff nuff non-vic fans thinking they can get Stringer to move and leave his young kids behind.

All good mate.
What do doggies supporters think he's worth?
Would like a top 10 pick and the fact that he is contracted might mean we could get it. I think he is worth it because he is 23 and hasn't peaked but market forces will determine it. Like a house auction get extra bidders and you get more than the reserve.

Not 'once', 'if' - and that hasn't occurred thus far. I wouldn't believe every rumour around trade time - the BF strike rate is about 4-5% which isn't that much worse than the collective of journos covering our game.

So do majority of GWS players.

Means absolutely nothing. but good try.

Leaving mum and dad is a bit different to leaving two kids under the age of four

All good mate.

Lance Franklin got his first AA at 21. Same age as Stringer won his. Franklin then missed AA after the flag but still led his clubs goal kicking - like Stringer. Franklin can't mark overhead - neither can Stringer. Both had set shot issues. Both had rumoured off field issues.

What would Hawks fans have wanted for Franklin at the end of 2009?

I'm tipping every Hawks person would have said he was untradeable and demanded a Judd like price.

And no Stringer is no Franklin - but there are similarities nonetheless.

Gets most of his goals from snaps and on the run. If he can improve his marking he would be hard to stop.

If he could improve his marking then we wouldn't be having this conversation.

He's 6'4"/92 kgs and basically useless overhead.

KPP size, but not a KPP player. This also seriously limits him as a midfielder.

Here's the market:

1. Essendon - $1.75
2. Collingwood - $3.25
3. St kilda - $5.00
4. Hawthorn - $9.00

Base on inside knowledge? If not I'd have North as raging favourite. Hrovat and Higgns already there too.
