Who would you choose as that 3rd tall hybrid who can have spells in the middle - if need be

Both taken in the same draft in 2012

Would love to hear some un-biased opinions :thumbsu:

Previous years Stringer hands down. We will see how he is dealt with. Because he was before injury struggling anyway and not hitting contest and packs, but may have compounded it further afterwards. I think Stringers more the match winner type.

Membrey has had a much better and consistent 2016 than Stringer. He just needed more consistent experience at another club the whole time. I have not seen him in the middle or how the Saints want to split the time there I don't think.

Membrey is the better team man and the one you could rely on in a big final. Stringer will have the better highlight reel.

Evidenced by? I've seen membrey miss some quite bad shots under pressure. Would he take those chances in a final?

Stringer had a pretty good final last year given he tweaked his hammy early. And has proven multiple times he steps up when the whips are cracking (twice this season he had 3 goal last quarters in close wins).

Like Stringer (and Bruce and probably even Hogan and WB's Dixon) this year, I suspect Tim will probably struggle to back up his excellent year this year (where he would almost certainly have kicked 50+ had he played the 5 games he missed), while next year I'll be very surprised if Stringer (and Bruce and Hogan) hasn't bounced back to much closer to his best, if he doesn't even do it in the finals. It's often very difficult to back up after a real break-out year and if Tim avoids that he'll be doing really well.

Without seeing what they're like behind closed doors and so-on, would take Stringer, because he has more versatility/strings to his bow (see what I did there!), more explosiveness, more matchwinning ability and has played to a really high level younger.

Very, very happy to have Membrey tho and hope he spends 8+ years up forward with Paddy McClunk and Bruce.

For the future ... Stringer and it's not particularly close. I don't think Membrey will ever have a season like Stringer had last year

At his best Stringer is an explosive beast who can win a match on his own. Membrey as good is he is will never be like that

His 2016 isn't too far from Stringer's 2015 statistically. Membrey coming off a shoulder reco as well.

Mods may as well shut this down as this post sums it up pretty well. The rest of this thread will very quickly turn out like the Bont vs Billings thread, and of course with the same winner ;)

Just a shame Adam H is no longer with us :'(

Statistics don't tell nearly the whole story with Stringer ... he does things very few others can

Yeah definitely agree with that, but Membrey is quickly improving so wouldn't discount him having any chance of having a 2015 Stringer like year.

The Rhys Stanley v Liam Jones looks even better. Who the hell voted Jones.

Oh come on do you really have to?.. is it because the last few years the dogs young players have been talked up and you now you are trying to get some back by saying a player having a good year is better then a naturally gifted player having a downer and even still has kicked over 30 goals.

This is the same as when the Saints people tried to say their list was better then the Cats in 2007 all over again.
on a side note i wanted the Dogs to pick up Membrey also, but compared to jake he has nowhere near the talent and upside, its Like Crameri to Stringer, they will both kick 30 40 to 50 goals most years but Jakes goals will be more note worthy and will also have more mid field time.

You can tell Stringer hasn't had his best end to the year. This poll should be an absolute shellacking Stringer's way.
