Take it from a person that has watched North's VFL side a lot this year, his tank issues are exaggerated as he is being compared to a guy like Goldstein. He would be worth a third last year; this year, a mid to late second due to the semi-revival of the ruckman and their increased demand.

You guys would be better off with Lycett anyway as he's more proven.

That is the million dollar question. My answer would be yes to Preuss getting games, but annoyingly, Scott plays favourites with his veterans, so it is a tempered yes. I hate the situation personally. To complicate things, we have another young ruck who is flying atm, behind Preuss atm, but could easily catch up by the end of next year.

Word is Preuss has been shopping himself around. Contracted until end 2020 though so we will listen to decent offers no doubt.

Yep - I 'd be taking the local ruck that's getting a regular games and costs you nothing but salary cap (assuming WC don't match), over the guy not getting a game and requiring a trade every day of the week.

I would suggest that Pruess would be Plan B for a lot of clubs. If Lycett goes, then WCE would have ruck depth issues, if they can't get English, then they'll chase Pruess. If WCE do get English, the Dogs would want Pruess (they wanted him last year too). GWS and Geelong are also sniffing around. Valuable depth indeed, which means that North can get extra for him than he's actually worth.

Could losing Polec be a calculated risk to improve our draft position?

With NM’s first and St Kilda’s second in our hands we would have some genuine currency to move up the order.

Could our last 7 or 8 games say we've been tanking for a better pick in the draft? eg Rosie maybe if he falls that of course

PORT Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley has compared the Power's chances of retaining in-demand winger Jared Polec to his side's remote finals hopes.

The length of the contract is the major sticking point, with the Power tabling a three-year deal for the 25-year-old, who has had a history of foot and soft tissue injuries.

If the out-of-contract Polec does, as expected, accept the lucrative offer to move to Arden Street, the Power would likely want the Kangaroos' first-round draft pick included in the trade.

City side?

I'd highly recommend The Gilbert St Hotel for pre game drinks. It's a bit of a hike but it's close to the tram so you can jump on at City South stop on KW Street and get a free ride down to the ground.

Closer to the ground, there's Grace Emily, Edinburgh Castle (but has a shit tonne of road works around it at the moment) or there's Lady Burra which is just off Topham Mall.

All options are better than Alma or Wellington.
