North supporters think pick 10/11 as a straight swap is too much, Port supporters think it's not enough. Probably means it's about right.

Only because he's uncontracted though. Given the choice between pick 11 and Polec I'm picking Polec every time.

We’ll pay 850K and 5 years, but won’t give up a first rounder, makes sence. They do realise he isn’t a free agent don’t they?

10/11 and 28/29 for Polec is about right IMO.

That’s bare minimum, that’s about what we game up to get Dixon, Pick 10 and a fiture second.

If Polec leaves it’ll be on more money then what Dixon was getting therefore warrants a higher trade.

I'm worried for the first time ever regarding Jared. Only because I've just found out that his Mrs family and friends are all back in Melbourne. That could be a huge driver for her with their wedding soon to happen, and the thought of kids in her life.

Geez I hope we don't lose him. Contrary to what others have said I think Polec is in our top 5 most important players.

No question he is in our top 5 players.

Realistically there would be little chance in North doing that. Tom Mitchell went for pick 14, so I’m not sure Polec would warrant more than our first.

Especially this years as we would be looking to accumulate later picks to match on a Thomas bid and hopefully a Scott bid. So giving up additional picks post our first rounder just doesn’t seem likely.

If a trade were to occur would our first (say pick 11) for Polec and your second suffice (say 31)?

If the reports are true you're offering him 5 years @ $750k. That's a big deal, so it suits that you pay for it in the trade. Pick 11 is about right in that case.

A first with a second pick coming back won't cut it - that's more what you'd offer for a guy getting 4 years @ $500k.

Pick 11 is probably fair for an uncontracted Polec. But then I remember that the crows got pick 12 for ****ing Cameron.

It really is incredible how much people outside of the Port Adelaide bubble don't understand how good Polly is.

Very hard to compare the two, Tom amitchell left for more Midfeild opertubies and is florashing as a result. If Tom michell payed at Sydney like he is now he would have got a lot more money and pick 14 wouldn’t have been enough.

Port won’t trade Polec and a second for just pick 11. Simply won’t happen and he won’t walk into the draft becouse he will not get past Carlton and St Kilda.

If you want him you will have to pay the appropriate trade price that matches the salary you are offering.

At this stage it’s all speculative as apparently staying at port is his preference.

Tom Mitchell for pick 14 was a massive steal, he is in the top 5 players in the competition (and a decent case can be made he is #1). The reason he went for such a low pick is because nobody knew just how good he would be at that stage - he probably wasn't even considered in the Swans best 10 at that time.

Port knows exactly how good Polly is, that's the difference.

Polec would get moved for pick 11 and some later pick shuffling. It sounds wrong but magic beans are worth more than proven commodities in the AFL.

And at the time Tom Mitchell, while still a ball magnet, was a player with significant flaws who had spent more than his fair share of time in the NEAFL. Cameron Wood once went for pick 14 too.

In two of those last three years he was either injured or slowly recovering from injury, so no. I can't be bothered looking up whether he was top 10 last year, but he'll damn sure be finishing top 5 this year.

2015 he spent most of the year off with a foot injury. 2016 he simply never looked himself - whether it was an interrupted pre-season or just struggling to regain form who knows.

2017 I just checked - he didn't make top 10. He should have though in my opinion. He is also far less replaceable than the rest of our top 10 (apart from Paddy) given the structure of our side (we have a bunch of insides but practically zero classy, speedy outsides, it's one of the reasons why we brought in Mots in the offseason). You also have to compare stats from 2017 -> 2018; as an example disposals have gone from 22.32 -> 25.16.

And not looking to pick a fight either, just your trade option blew my mind a bit. If you do get him across (hoping this won't happen) and can watch him on a weekly basis next year you will soon understand why and will definitely enjoy it (and I'll probably like Norf a bit more next year than I do this one).

Your club seems to be willing to pay him a top 3 at the club salary over a long period of time.
