I am not saying that I am in favour of this, but if you are heading towards a cliff-face and you continue to keep doing what you are doing, why should you expect the result to be different?

What if Jeff is sufficiently professional (and football loving) to say: I can help save this great club whilst compartmentalising my own allegiances?

Our current president extended CS's contract, let us not forget . . . . . .

I say no. Firmly no. The Board have to be passionately supportive and united. Kennett has explicit prejudices against Melbourne so his motives behind any decision will always be in question.

We're supposed to be unifying the club. not dividing it!

2nd time in 2 years McLardy's refuted claims Kennett was approached

Kennett is just a poo stirrer

I don't think Don denied that Kennett was approached, simply said that it would be dangerous to allow him to become President. Probably correctly, if his views stay the same.

Given the last 10 years of great decisions the current board has made I think a clean out and new ideas is required.

McLaughingstock is a joke

And the $5million raised will go to paying out all of the bloated contracts of the staff that will be moved on at end of year.

We need to surround the player group in people who have a winning culture and well respected.

Kennett will make the right calls..

we also need to chase .. Ling, Hayes, John Brown, Leppitsch ..

Knights would be good in a assistance roll.

Kennett would relocate our club (or merge it)

Yes you know that as a fact?

Surely if we going to merge it would have been done by now .. We need to take a chance with someone with runs on the board ..

the current board has done nothing except dig a bigger hole ...

We paid of debt now we are nearly bankrupt again ... That's the positive of current board..

has McLardy got a single decision right in the past two years?

If you don't write an unofficial preview soon I am going to go insane!!!!!

I'm not adverse to replacing the new board - in fact McLardy is there by default and I don't believe he ever wanted the job

I just know from previous comments (a lot of them) from Kennett on our club, he's not a big fan <-- putting it nicely

He's often said we should relocate, merge etc.

Not the line of thinking I want from our President..................

Wouldn't be against it.

Took Hawthorn from basket case to Top 4, so there is some upside.
As much as Jeff did for our club, he was only finishing off Ian Dickers hard work.

I was a Jeff fan, so I don't want to come across as anti Jeff, but to me this has Jeffs ego written all over it. The bloke is trying to stay relevent. Remember this is the bloke who said we should sack Clarkson after round one.

He has the skill set to do the job, however I question his motives.

I'm pretty sure he said this before and that he thought about it but his heart wasn't in it. From the statements he has made about football, tells me he is out of touch with the real football fans. I think he's an ex politician who should just stick to commentating on politics. Something that he's good at.

He has a very emotional connection with the City of Melbourne from his words which easily translates to our club.

He wont relocate us because he belives our state capital city should have it's own team. He just doesn't want that team to be one that gets pencilled in for an easy 4 points each week!

Excuse my interruption.

Kennett is the supreme master at taking credit for others deeds. Was little more than the front man for Allan Stockdale (who did the hard yards), yet took all the credit for the States financial turnaround. Road on the coat tails of Ian Dicker, who was the real force behind the Hawks resurgence. Also, have a look at the mans corporate history.

You guys can do way better than a big noting blabbermouth. Some one who is a true blue Demon is the go.

He did okay for us off the field, nothing special. The steady improvement started with Ian Dicker and it took many years, the coaching appointment, the football department behind Clarko, all of it was under Dicker. He basically rode the wave of our previous presidents success. Melbourne could do better I'm sure.
